If I hadn't read the books I probably would have loved this. But I did read the books - several times. Sadly, this series feels like the people who made it didn't read the books at all. More like they had the plot told to them and then they pieces it together from memory and got a vague resemblance to the books.
I'm so sad, because I was genuinely so excited. It sucks because I think the actors did a good job, even if they didn't look like what I pictured them. There was such a lack of depth, and where in the books the readers were along with Pip as she did the work, and dug into the dark corners of the case, this just felt like she accidentally stumbled into the answers without really asking any questions. And Ravi wasn't even really part of the solving the way he was in the books. And where was Stanley? Too many important factors missing, and it's so sad, because this could have been so good, and I think if the actors had been given something closer to the source material it could have been really satisfying for everyone.
I guess I'll try to see it as its own thing, if it gets renewed.

Upon learning of the death of of his former wife, Diana, with a huff Charles exclaimed "God, they're going to blame me of this, too, aren't they?"
So far, this season is a transparent and tame attempt at painting Charles as sympathetic, when he was never anything but cruel and cold toward a woman he promised to love and protect. A woman who was just a girl when they met, and he one of the most powerful men in the world. There were a myriad of ways to go about these difficult concluding episodes of the series, but portraying a man-child who mistreated his wife horrifically for all the world to see, as a grieving and broken soul was definitely not the way to go. It also incredibly convenient how this episode has the royal family refer to Diana as The Princess when they stripped her of the title.
Of all the footage of the real al Fayed I have seen, I have also never seen a man who anything but loved his son deeply. Before he passed, as well. He spent the last years of his life in deep mourning.

I am currently on episode six, and I am having so much fun. It's so great to have a breath of fresh air like this. I have been a huge Marvel fan my whole life, and was super invested in the MCU, but the magic has fizzled out for me. Of the Disney+ powered Marvel shows, only Loki and Ms Marvel really kept my attention. Up until now.
The doom and gloom of the MCU has made it all too heavy, but She-Hulk is light and breezy. The characters are fun and entertaining, and definitely relatable, but still allows space for depth. Sure, they could all be more fleshed out, but as of now we are still in the beginning phase of the show, and it's never fun to have all the cards on the table from the get-go.
If you want all the heavy themes of impending war that the MCU has long been feeding us, then no; this show is not for you. However, if you want to watch a show that actually feels like the comics with solid characters, funny lines and occasional heartfelt talk, then you have come to the right place.
I can't wait to see where this takes us!
