I am no comic book fan or even reader, so I can not compare this show to the original series and how faithful the show is to the comic book itself. But I will weigh in on how the show is and felt and what are its cons and pros.
I am even not familiar with the Green Arrow character until only recently and I have viewed the pilot episode yesterday not expecting what the story is actually about. I knew it was a comic book adaptation and the show talks about a rise of a superhero.
The pilot is entertaining with good action scenes and when the show was over it left me wanting to know what happens next, which is always a good thing and the show itself felt a bit gritty which is also a good thing.
But what I had an issue with is the show's pilot story, they just, like Ironman and Batman, showed us a guy with a lot of money " a billionaire" coming back to get some baddies for revenge and also bring some justice!
If only they have dedicated at least a couple of episodes on how he reached the island and coped and lived on the island instead of showing us flashback,s would have been really nice and would have given a "real" feel to the show.
The lead actor as Arrow was not a bad choice but not that great too. The action as I said is good, the supporting cast role I thought was above average but still kept the show entertaining. So action camera shots were great, like how the camera was behind his shoulder when he was jumping off the walls, I hope they stick to it in some other scenes.
For me to keep watching this, just like another reviewer said, "it is an uphill battle from here".
They must improve on the story, develop it gradually and show character development for all supporting actors and keep action scenes across all episodes. Only than this would be a great show.

Do not get me wrong, Oldboy is an original and a good movie, but it is way Over-Rated, it is so over-rated I was actually disappointed after I watched the movie.
What I mean is that due to the "so excellent ratings and over-hyped and over-described reviews" I thought I would see a "Masterpiece". Because of these ratings and reviews I think it killed my expectations and ruined my viewing of the movie.
What is good about this movie is the twists and shocks in the story which lets you wanting to know what is next!
And boy are you for a shock at the end.
The acting, directing and writing are all good and all the elements that makes a good Korean revenge thriller are there.
If you love Asian movies in general and Korean movies especially, than do not miss Oldboy.
Just please lower your expectations.

When I heard about this show few months back and seeing big names behind it like JJ Abrams (Lost) and John Favreau (Iron Man), I thought this could go at least somewhere decent, but than I saw the pilot episode.
It is as if the show mocks the human mind and the show believes that the viewers are stupid, I was actually offended by the show because I felt that it mocked my intelligence.
What were the producers thinking? Who wrote this? These people thought "WOW we will have a legion of fans with this Sci Fi show! Lets make this!"
From where do I even start with this hole studded show (yes Pun intended)?
I will start from the obvious, if everything electrical is affected why would everything mechanical not work? I told you SO, the show is mocking you!
The cast are so boring, the girl "Charlie" was at best mediocre, the uncle "Miles" was a joke, his performance as a bad-ass killer is a Fail and Giancarlo Esposito who was so powerfully terrifying in the role of Gus Fring in Breaking Bad was ruined by the material he was given!
The writing is bad, the direction in bad and the acting bad. The only good thing in this show was the CGI.
I believe this will not go to a second season and will be cancelled.
At the mean time, I will be waiting for the 3rd season of The Walking Dead and the 2nd part of the 5th season of Breaking Bad!
