Despite being a fan of the genre, this left me disappointed, feeling more like a hybrid between a Spanish soap opera and a sci-fi film than a true Marvel experience. The pacing is weighed down by unnecessary scenes and melodramatic dialogue, which often made me reach for the fast-forward button. While the visual effects and sound design are competently executed, the film lacks the spark and energy that usually captivate audiences. Much of my disconnect stems from Pedro Pascal's performance, which I found irritating and unconvincing, overshadowing the otherwise solid work of the supporting cast. Unfortunately, the movie fails to deliver that vital sense of excitement and momentum the kind that keeps viewers glued to the screen rather than disengaged.
I barely managed to watch about three minutes of movie and honestly, it's a complete disaster. What even is this? It tries to be comedic while also being bloody and clearly not suitable for all audiences. It has nothing to do with reality, yet it doesn't come across as a parody either. You know those absurd scenes where a crowd fires bullets at one guy, and he somehow dodges every shot? Well, not only does that happen here, but the guy also throws two axes mid-dodge and somehow nails two soldiers in the head and the worst part is, the film treats this seriously as if he's some kind of badass. There's a big difference between creative freedom and outright stupidity, and this falls firmly in the latter. I haven't seen something this dumb in a long time. The real comedy here is that it's labeled as a drama, comedy, "historical," and war film. The audio is relatively fine, but the video quality is awful what's with the greenish tint throughout the whole thing? When a film makes you want to stop watching after just two minutes because it's that stupid, there's really not much else to say.
I was actually into Murderbot at first, the first few episodes had a cool vibe, and I thought, "Okay, this might be worth it." But in episode 6, it just kinda falls apart. The story gets messy, and they start throwing in stuff that doesn't really fit or help the plot you know that modern things, intrusive things that we don't talk about if we want our opinion to be seen.. It felt like they were trying to make some point, but I wasn't sure what, and honestly, I stopped caring. The episodes are short, so there's no time for filler, but they still managed to squeeze in a bunch of random scenes that took away from the actual story. I didn't even start episode 7. Real shame, because this could've been great if they just stuck to the core idea.
