Early views of Northwich town centre and Winsford salt mine. Very interesting. Particularly if you live, or have lived in Northwich or Cheshire, or have worked in the salt mine. I had the good luck to be taken into the mine a few years ago and was amazed by the clean air and vast ceilings of salt.
I believe that there were dinner parties down there at one time, with chandeliers!
This short documentary film is from the series Look at Life, which I think we're shown in cinemas during the fifties and sixties. I vaguely remember seeing them. They covered various aspects of life at that time. How we coped with snowfall, transport issues, medical advances, etc. They are a window into the past and a less frenetic time. A time when people expected less and (arguably) gave more.
