This isn't your stereotypical aliens came from outer space story arch. It's a fun and fresh story with likable characters and a pertinent message. Elio's world is fun bright and imaginative but packed with original scenes with lots of clever and profound moments that adults will also enjoy. Once Elio gets beamed up up and away, the movie really gets going. The Glordon character was hands down my favorite. He was weirdly adorable and I loved his character animation. Good story for kids about the reality of having to earn and fight for your passion and art and that the people on the other side have to suffer as much as you do.

This film is flawed but I love it. The performances at first were slow to start but then get progressively better and by the end the actors all are doing their best work. You really like and care about the characters. Phenomenal shots and cinematography, mood and atmosphere. Great drama romance and dialogue. When I first saw this it was a bit taken out of the film because I was analyzing how it was similar to some classic stories like Rebecca but this film is its own thing and really makes you feel something which is all anyone can ask from a movie. So ya, don't put too much stock in the number system to rate a movie, give this film a watch. Preferably in a dark room.

Great animated movie, I thought it was a great story about being a mom. I think that being the framing of the story telling stops it from feeling like a sci fi movie.

I never read the book? Books? But the author is creative. The art style was brilliant and the music was emotional. I think it's an interesting world as well to explore ideas as society continues to evolve with technology. But because of that a sequel should not be rushed.
