I just watched this movie on DVD and I'm glad I did not go to the cinema to see it. This movie is awful.
I understand that it is supposed to be a comedy - and therefor more of a story about Tordenskiold than Tordenskiold's story. But it is not funny. And in the failed attempt of being funny it manages to tarnish the legacy of one of the greatest naval officers who ever lived.
It is not the acting - the actors are doing a great job with what they've got to work with. But the script is poorly written and as a viewer I am left with a feeling that something is missing from the story.
It is to bad. Because the story of Tordenskiold - and in this case his death - is a story that could have been so much better.
One thing I did like was the plot twist at the end ... Never saw that coming ...

I really like the stories of Henry VIII - most of all because this is such an important piece of British history, so I watched this show with great expectations. But I think this show is way too slow and with sad violins playing all the time it gets boring.
It is not all bad, though ... Damien Lewis is perfect as Henry VIII, and I feel he should have been cast as Henry in The Tudors as well :)
Mark Rylance is great as sly Cromwell, but I don't like the portrayal of Anne Boleyn. Anne is a stupid bitch in this show, and it does not make sense, why King Henry (and all the other men) would be so enchanted by her.

I just finished watching season 1 on Netflix. I started watching in the believe that it would be somewhat like The Tudors. How disappointed Iwas ....
The show is not at all historically correct neither in storyline or in costumes and location. It seems that they are not trying to be either. The actors are doing their best, but the writing is bad and the story too simple and predictable, so there is not much they can do to make it all believable.
I continued watching it anyway, as it turned out to be nice entertainment once my expectations were lowered.
I think that if you liked a show like Merlin you would like this too. But there are plenty of TV-shows of a higher quality, so this one is really only worth watching if you want to watch something without having to pay too much attention
