  • With open hearts, we all learn from it

Feeling grateful for Harper and Will and Josh and this film, it was made for all the right reasons. I am so glad we live in a time where Harper can fulfill, at least in her last stages of life, her identity and be open and fully herself to her loved ones and friends, if not to the world (which is filled with fear and ignorance still of what they don't understand). And what a wonderful friend she has in Will, a decent and really wonderful human, a friend no matter what, to the ends of the earth. It really was a great film, indeed.

My gratitude for this film extends further to Harper for bearing her full story and emotions, from sharing her story throughout her life, to the acceptance of her self more fully even while the film was rolling.. and the tears streaming. There were many lessons in there for me as the nuances of what she and other trans folx in the film go through and have felt. I do think it's important information for many of us to know, the self acceptance is such a big part of the journey. Much love to you, Harper.

Thanks to Josh Greenbaum for presenting this story in a way that was so very touching and beautiful, while real and raw too.

And, I'm really disappointed in the naysayers and negative people. Yes, they have every right to speak negatively. But it is one thing to have a right, and other thing to choose what to do with that right.

In this case, the negative people - instead of shutting up and listening and learning - they choose to cut down and speak crap about this film, the content, and those involved. Shame on you all. You have no idea what you do, your ignorance and lack of education is astounding.

This is a great and important film. With open hearts we all learn from it.

  • Open hears and minds

It's important to remember that as caregivers to a severely disabled person, the government subsidies are maximized. Therefore reallly, there are no incentives for the family to seek out further beneficial aides, educational assistance or anything else that will help D. J. to use or try to various ways to communicate because it will just rock the boat. They've been given all they need in terms of functional assessment, which is D. J.'s life sentence of severe disability and intelligence of a toddler, so they feel no guilt in not trying to help him.

The other thing, it's pretty clear that Anna was in a position of power and trust and made a bad choice, a series of bad choices. And deserved to be held to account. However, I don't doubt her feelings and that D. J. shared them, and that their intimacy was consensual.

Further, it's a very difficult film but it's important. It sparks thoughtful consideration of many aspects at the intersection of race, disability and sexual consent. I do hope we all open our hearts and minds to the hidden lessons and wish all parties involved many blessings.

  • Stopping soon near halfway through S2

    I can't go on.

At first the costumes and hair were pretty good, for the first couple of episodes.

After that, it seems the actors have been all given hair colour all very similar, even the men.

Then, so terribly distracting the women now begin seemingly relegated to doing their own hair and makeup. It's horrible. Absolutely not period, not representative of the frontier 1910s.

Not any proper costumes for outdoor wear, men not wearing hats, in fact nobody wearing hats.

What's worse for me and so annoying is the threads in the story go along so slowly it's maddening. Weaving back and forth with unrealistic probabilities and then changes course and more threads added wiggly piggly. Nothing at all satisfying or good. Just a lot of soapy nonsense going nowhere.

The premise is great and the acting is good.

If the story would be adjusted to give more satisfaction now and then in the plot lines it would be a better show - and if period women's costumes and not crap picked up from Winners, and skirts hand sewn from cheap modern fabrics, outlandishly put together with modern jewelry.. I could go on and on, it's just so extremely unbelievable..

Therefore, between the horribly ruined story and amazingly bad period costumes and hair and makeup... I'm done. S2E7.
