Seeing that this was directed by its main character I see this as nothing more than a beautifully shot vanity project which is its only redeeming quality other than that. I was hoping for a nostalgic 90s rom com but instead was treated to a cringefest. What made this so cringe to me was just how implausible the relationship between the cabbie / poet Michael and model Sarah was. What on earth did she see in him?? And the their first date almost looked like a sexual assault. As a woman there would be no way in hell I would agree to going to a strangers home on the first date. I mean at least get to know each other first before hopping into bed unless this is supposed to be a one night stand but...In a nutshell I just have many issues with how their relationship started out. I didn't buy into their chemistry either. The only plusses were the attractive looking eye candy Eric Schaeffer is cute, nice camerawork, and wardrobe choices.
This review will be very short.
With that said. While I loved this movie I found it frustrating that Fatah's Algerian community did not adequately prepare Fatah logistically for the LOOOOOONG journey. Walking from Marseilles to Paris with a cow and just a handful of belongings? I guess disbelief was indeed suspended. But I suppose that if Fatahs journey was made more comfortable / easier then there would be no story...
