I thought this was a well done feelings type of movie. The overuse of the f-word and some sexual stuff was a jarring element and not necessary. I never understand why so many movie producers feel they have to include that kind of stuff. All the acting was very high caliber. Joey King as the daughter, Grace was a real stand out. Kate Hudson was enjoyable. The kid who plays the son is also the same kid who played the robot kid in Halle Berry's new TV show, Extant. Expect to see him more. He is very good. The film was shot very nicely and pretty to watch. Also the soundtrack is a winner. It was like a well done TV movie about family. I liked the subject matter and this cast elevated the script.
It was just another run of the mill murder/mystery show. Rufus and his side kick both talk in monotones. The mysteries were not very interesting and they had no real hook to make this feel special or different. Neither of these actors seem to be able to make that transition to having a hit show. I read about this show on a list of sci fi shows and I have no idea why it was on the list. There is nothing sci fi about it at all. It is however perfect to watch and fall asleep too or have on while working on something else. :) Also why do we have to submit 10 long lines for a review? Sometimes less is more IMDb.
Why do movies insist on these cheesy New Jersey accents? It is so awful. I cannot even think of one movie where they insisted on using that accent that did not make me cringe. This was very much a made for TV movie. I enjoy these books, and have read most of Janet Evanovich's books. They are a fun fast read. The movie however did capture that feeling. Katherine Heigl was the wrong choice for the role of Stephanie Plum. Everyone else was pretty bang on casting. But since she is the main role, it really shows in the movie. I will say Katherine Heigl looks good in dark hair! I watched this movie while doing some paperwork and it was good for that, or to fall asleep too.
