I just watched the first five minutes of this vacuum. It's truly one of the worst shows I've ever seen. Throughout that unbearably long five minutes, I actually had to create my own entertainment based on the show itself, that's how god awful it is. I started saying the word "laugh" every time there was supposed to be a funny part. It's like I recognise the joke they're trying to make but it's just done so poorly that I find absolutely no humour in it at all. Most times I don't mind a laugh track, I enjoyed Friends for example. I continue to enjoy The Big Bang Theory and Mike and Molly, but this abortion of comedy had me wanting to poke at my ears with a long, pointy object just so I wouldn't hear that mind numbing clattering ever again. I seriously cannot believe that this show made it past it's first episode let alone get another season. When I see quality shows cancelled or not even given a proper go it bugs the hell out of me but to see a show like this, one of the single worst atrocity's mankind has inflicted upon it's fellow man since the Holocaust, get renewed it makes me die a little inside. I fear for the fate of humanity if the general consensus is that this is a quality show, I really do.
This show continues to be frustrating. The writers sprint through story lines which make no sense because they either drop them too quickly, such as dealing with a major car crash and before you even know if they rescued everyone, the guys are back at the fire station, or a major injury to one of the cast members, such as Shea nearly being killed when the ambulance is hit by a truck, yet the very next episode she's just fine, or they start a storyline, such as the young fire bug, find out it's an uncle causing problems, then for several episodes they ignore that storyline entirely, only to suddenly bring it back and deal with it by killing the No more fire bug storyline. I'm sick to death of these writers who can't bring up a good storyline and finish it in a normal fashion. Come has major back surgery and by the next episode, it's been weeks later and he's up and running around? Give me a break. There are TOO MANY personal dramas going on with the cast members and I'd rather see a rescue finished entirely before the guys head back to their home base. By the way, this past week? They drive to a house which has collapsed. It is owned by a hoarder. The rescuse consists of two young people in the basement who had no business being there in the first place, and then it's DONE. Where was the owner? They never even looked for the hoarder? Didn't they think he might be stuck in the rubble? Nope, he isn't mentioned again. There is no consistency to the story lines. This show needs new writers and anyone who can't see that has no idea what they're talking about.
If you can't take Glee's syrupy pop sweetness or bear the Broadway razzle- dazzle of Smash, Nashville just might be the place for you. Being a country music fan isn't a prerequisite either, thanks to an ear-pleasing soundtrack that mixes lots of different country styles -- from alt-country rock to straight-up CMA hits. Listen up, and your ears will thank you.
Nashville also earns points for casting talented leads who can not only talk the talk, but also sing their own notes. Britton is more than believable as a once-unstoppable country queen, and Panettiere is pitch- perfect as her chart-topping rival. But Bowen and Palladio's beautifully haunting blend is the real find -- and we dare you to catch their Southern accents slipping.
