  • Hollywood's Sci-Fi blockbuster made in Russia

Plot: 5/10. Cheesy and unrealistic, a mix between Deep Impact and Geostorm, yet entertaining, although the third act is a bit weak.

Direction and photography: 9/10. Very well made film, with beautiful photography and superb one-shot scenes.

CGI: 9/10. Better than some recent Marvel/DC movies. Close to Gravity. Not a CGI-fest where the plot is driven by special effects.

Acting: 7/10? I've seen the spanish dub, which I think is pretty good. I can't tell about the russian or english dub, so...

In conclusion, a Hollywood's Sci-Fi blockbuster made in Russia, with little to no patriotism. Definitely I recommend it.

  • Silly, but very entertaining

If you can get away with scientifically inaccurate movies with ridiculous plots, and enjoy a cinematic experience of good CGI and over-the-top action, this is your movie. Forget all those critics who would like all Hollywood movies to be like Gone With The Wind or Amélie and just enjoy this disaster movie.

Also, acting is good and plot makes even more sense than other movies like 2012 or Geostorm. I guess it got bad reviews because, as it uses to be, cast has no well-known actors in it.

If you like movies like Volcano, The Day After Tomorrow, Deep Impact, San Andreas or The Towering Inferno, you will like this flick.

  • Entertaining, but easily forgettable.

For all the superhero movie fans out there, this film could be re-titled as "The Avengers League 1 and 2: Age of Steppenwolf". It feels like they've compressed six hours of script in a two hours flick to pair with the current Marvel's movies. Due to this, there's no character development, and the whole movie runs in such a quick pace it's hard to understand what's going on, leaving a lot of plot holes.

Also, the inspiration on the current cinematic Marvel heroes is so obvious that it makes this film a bit insulting to the DC fans. Bruce Wayne tries to overpass Tony Stark's reasonable improvements —Veronica, suits, etc.— with bizarre gadgets just because "he's rich". The Flash is the average teeny buffoon as a copycat of the last Spiderman reboot. Cyborg just looks like the 2.0 version of Vision, and Aquaman... well, it's Aquaman.

The worst aspect of the movie is the "downgrade" of Wonder Woman. From the Goddess rable to destroy Ares to some kind of female squire who can't deal with a lame villain as Steppenwolf.

As a whole, this movie is entertaining, but it has so many flaws it doesn't get lower than 5/10 because acting is more than OK. I would like to see the uncut version of this film (if there's any) because I'm sure the released final cut doesn't make "justice" to the original script and cast performance.
