I liked the first couple seasons but in Season 4 it's hard to tolerate the intrusive behaviors of the family liason officers. In s4e2 for example, a house gets firebombed, mom gets killed, and they take the family phones away, isolate them, and berate them for not telling them absolutely everything about themselves, e.g , simple things like the daughter got into a fight. They also delve deep into family finances even though the father has a solid alibi. Honestly if it was my family I would refuse to do it and kick them out if my house. Investigation is one thing..but not without cause.
Loved first two seasons but the new seasons have lousy CG and AI. It is so fake looking. The dogs don't even look right when they show them eating...how hard could that be to do right? Sad to drop the quality so much from the original. And, they are claiming catastrophic changes in just a couple of weeks. In the first seasons it took years for building collapses. So far I am disappointed in the new version.
For those who never read the book, this movie is enjoyable and thought-provoking on a human and environmental level. Even though there are "love stories" involved, there is also murder and a leopard hunt. I was very pleased with this version of Luis Supulveda's thoughtful, beautifully written story. Richard Dreyfuss really brought his character's personality to life. The Mayor was just as awful as expected, and enough of the story was brought forward to make it cohesive while maintaining poignancy and point. Thoroughly enjoyable.
The scenes are gritty, beautiful. It has humor in the right places. You may feel horror, sadness, and contentment.
