Underwhelming acting, underwhelming set design, underwhelming writing. So much of the background looked like blue screen with a soundstage, it was distracting. The writing was so anemic, that the actors were forced to chew on the scenery and emote like crazy. Relies heavily on stereotypes for characterization. The episode 'twist' was also obvious. Not one of the better shows I've seen lately.
The first season was interesting. Lots of twists and turns. The flashbacks made it hard for my mom to follow, but I enjoyed the story-telling style, although occasionally it felt like a tricky way to tell a mostly straightforward story. Acting was great-I came to see Davis and she is impressive, but the rest of the crew did well also. I believed their cut- throat personalities. However, season two just didn't interest me. I was really disappointed that that's the direction they took it in after all that was done to create a connection to that character. We think we know what happened. I just couldn't be bothered to watch the same dynamics all over again.
Jackass crossed with The Odd Couple crossed with a standard small-town mystery (say, Father Brown or something), full of Quirky Real People™. Calls itself 'feminist' because it shows women can behave Just Like Men and say things like 'gotta take a piss' and belch. Have graphic sex scenes just because. The mystery seemed decent. The quirky characters were over the top, particularly at the crime scene. Box' acting was exceptional. Sami seems to be desperately over-acting and uses Jim Carrey as a role model. Everyone seems to be in vaguely unhappy relationships. Dropped it from my watchlist after one episode. Honestly, I'd be a bit embarrassed if I was an Aussie and thought this is what people were going to think my country is like.
