Give me a break. This is as much fake Hollywood stuff as anything. Not my cup of tea. If I want to watch fake stuff, I'll stick to sci-fi or intentionally made up action or drama. Just saying. This is all nothing but blah, blah, blah, yada, yada, yada. I really don't think even my dog would want to watch this. And I don't have a dog now. It's nice that this is something that showcases African-American characters and youth, but that's about as far as it goes. LA, OK. Martha's Vineyard, OK. Beyond that, it looks like the same old, same old. Young boy meets young girl, they have a crush and want to do the nasty. Both of them have a little something going on in their lives, so there's the jeopardy of the relationship. Almost soap operish. Overall, I don't think so.
I don't know if it was Technicolor, but this movie was in bright colors, literally very colorful. Interesting rocket design, rudimentary science, and multi-national, multi-ethnic, multi-gender characters and crew. Otherwise typical of late 50's early 60's sci-fi. The acting wasn't bad bad, just kind of bad. There was even the hint of romance or at least a relationship connection. The special effects were what you would expect from the time - - - definitely not big budget but adequate enough to convey a true sense of curiosity and sci-fi, provided and given that there was the proper suspension of belief. All in all, lovably cheesy.
A knock-off of a truly original yet no less disturbing movie, THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE (2009). The previously mentioned Tom Six film had 3 people sewn together rather than 2, and at different areas of their bodies. The motive or reasoning for the disfiguration in this movie is beyond sanity but nevertheless different from THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE. The acting was fair but interesting. After having seen THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE, though, this just seemed like a knock-off.
