First of all, let me just start by saying how huge fan I am of Mr. Balasevic and his work. He is the best songwriter by far I have seen in my life.
After much much waiting, I had the chance to see Kao Rani Mraz in Skopje, and I must say that I had high expectations. Unfortunately, Mr. Balasevic's songwriting genius has translated into a somewhat ordinary picture on the big screen that fails to capture the deep emotions and narrative simplicity that is the story of Vasa Ladacki.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that it is a bad film; what I am saying, though, that it is not by far as good as it could have been! You have a great story, full of extravagant potential, as universal message as they can get, absolutely fantastic music, pretty decent cast (I was pleasantly surprised by Jovana Balasevic) and yet there is something that is not working...
All in all, i feel the story deserves more... much more. And if you are a Balasevic fan, remember: Vasa Ladacki is a song! That is how it was meant to be in the first place!
