The Accountant was a very good movie. So good, in fact, they just had to make a 2nd movie. Unfortunately, the follow-up falls way short of the first.
The plot is very cardboard and almost predictable, although the viewer may find themselves a bit lost during many parts of the film. In the first offering, Ben Affleck's portrayal of Christian Wolff, an autistic accountant to criminal and terrorist organizations (who also happens to be a highly trained and skilled killing machine with a good heart) was entertaining and somewhat believable. In this outing, however, he plays the character as much more awkward, with a very staccato rhythm to his voice, less badassery in his actions, and none of the coping mechanisms used previously. Jon Bernthal's character Braxton is now more comic relief than the Punisher-esque version he played in the original. The overall feeling is that both actors have forgotten how they played their roles in 2016.
The story is not so much bad, as it just isn't good. The acting is basic, the action is boring, and the general vibe of the movie is that everyone just phoned it in.
All-in-all, The Accountant 2 is a letdown.

This film, and it's part 2 conclusion, felt like I was watching every discarded idea from every single film in the Star Wars franchise, mixed with a failed 80's science fiction/fantasy movie, with virtual unknown actors in lead roles, and a few cameos from more recognizable celebrities, rolled up into a jumbled mess of undeveloped characters, storylines that went nowhere, and every dopey cliche one might expect from an episode of MST3K. With no real sense of direction, mid-level acting, bad fight choreography, and so-so CGI effects, I found myself taking multiple breaks throughout the total viewing process. All in all, a boring waste of time.
