What a colossal waste of time. This entire series could be told in three episodes. I kept waiting for them to finally get to a conclusion. Episode eight still no conclusion. A second season? What??? And a year between seasons with zero closure. No.
I'm watching this four years after the release - so I am able to binge watch the entire season all at once. I cannot imagine having to wait an entire week between each episode only to get the episode that they gave you. It dragged on watching it all at once I can't imagine how badly it must've dragged on if you had to wait a week between each episode.
The more I watched it, the more I felt it was geared toward juveniles, not adults. The nine year old character was annoying and not believable. I didn't realize the entire series would revolve around this character. The series was about someone in prison for murder. Hardly an appropriate subject matter for 9 year olds to watch so adults had to be the target audience? No adult wants to watch a pushy, mouthy 9 year old.
There is so much more I want to say, but I don't want to have to put a spoiler tag on this.

Wow. I cannot believe how ticked I am toward a TV Series. This has to be one of the worst directed and the worst edited series I have ever seen. This never should've been six episodes. The entire pointless story could've been told in one or two episodes.
The director completely wasted the viewers' time. Every single scene of every single episode was so completely drawn out and unnecessary. Every single scene.
One FULL episode was only three people stuck in an elevator, two people stuck in a waiting room, and two people fighting - the entire episode. Their dialogue was such nonsense. ALLLLL of them non-stop bickering. WHO wants to watch that?
It took everything in me to not turn off the TV.
The lonnnngggg, drawn out bickering.
We had to watch people "going at it" in the bedroom for what seemed like five minutes straight each time, we had to watch people stand in line for no reason, we had to watch people sit trapped in an elevator real time for the entire episode, we had watch people sit an a waiting room for the entire episode.
Episode four and five were a complete waste of time. There was absolutely no reason for these two episodes. Both of these episodes could've been summed up in 15 minutes instead of making the viewer sit through two hours of needless background on characters that weren't even the main characters. And they made viewers wait weeks between the episodes.
They had even less respect for our time during episode four and five because the entire episodes were foreign with subtitles. Viewers couldn't even make the time pass faster by multi-tasking while we were watching - we were FORCED to watch the screen for translations or turn the whole thing off. We stayed so we could finally get to the ending. I mean it had to end some time right? No it doesn't. It has no ending.
The entire series is one big time s u c k.
The director, the editor, and whoever else decided to make this a six episode series had no respect for their viewers. I'm glad that I watched these episodes all at once instead of having to watch them each a week apart. I cannot imagine trying to watch this over the span of six weeks. Especially when two of the episodes were a complete waste of time.
Nicole Kidman's make up artist should be fired. To take a beautiful woman and make her look so awful. What were they thinking? Her makeup looked atrocious. The wig was even worse. It was so hard to look at her. The brown pencil in her eyebrows I mean, she looked really, really, really bad. Which is sad because she was a beautiful woman.
I'm the person who never, ever judges as anybody by their looks - I am almost 50 and I've only worn make up a handful of times in my entire life. I'm saying this because the make up artist should be fired. Not because of Nicole Kidman's looks. The makeup artist has a duty to do makeup that is flattering for the person wearing it. She made Nicole look cringey. I've never noticed this with any other actress in any other series or movie. It was that disturbing. They should've had her have no makeup on at all instead of what they did to her. This wasn't a true story. It was based on a book so there was no need to do this.
I don't know what else to say. I should've never started the series. I always have to finish what I start. I will never get the six + hours back.
Whoever approved the series should be ashamed. The lighting was awful. The film coloring was awful. The sets were awful. The sound was bad. And I'm the kind of person that usually gives movies and series 10 out of 10 if I really like them.
I had to dig deep to give this a 2 out of 10 and the only reason why I gave a 2 out of 10 was because I appreciated watching all the different cultures and languages coming together.
The way they told the story was, well bad, just really, really bad.
What a disappointment.

I have to agree with the other reviews that say that Greta Lee's character and Pittman's character have completely ruined the show.
The way they talk about races - if we talked about their race that way people would be going through the roof.
It has to stop. I wasn't raised this way.
When I was younger, it was drilled into our heads that everyone was to love EVERYONE and skin color did not matter. People were equal. No exceptions.
All this race nonsense has to stop!
My family is made up of many different races. My friends are made up of many different races. We all grew up in one big mixing pot. What the has happened the last 10 years?
Why is everyone being nasty to everyone based on their skin color?
What happened to content of character not color of skin?
The show is an embarrassment to the progress we had made.
