Many actors have come and gone who played poorly written characters, but the combination of bad writing with Quintessa's frigid, detached, emotionless performance was really the nail in the coffin.
The series focused more on interpersonal drama than on the actual math and the hunt for it. It got boring quickly, and I found myself skipping through large sections just to reach the point. The Iraqi subplot was also badly underutilized.
All in all, yet another Apple production that falls into the "boring" category. At best, they manage maybe 10% greatness in what they churn out.

Even though my childhood was a good 20 years before this movie's release, the emotional weight of the original far outweighs this hollow, uninspired remake. This version feels like a complete waste-of money, of work-hours, and of time spent watching it out of sheer curiosity, despite knowing it would be a disappointment.
Despite its live-action format, it's utterly soulless and off-putting, weighed down further by pointless subplots that add nothing of value.
At best, it might mildly entertain toddlers seeing the story for the first time-but even then, I would strongly urge young parents to show them the original instead. The one that carved itself into our hearts, our souls, and our shared cultural memory.
Why, producers? Why?

I am flabbergasted at how people prefer to read other people's opinions before forming their own on a cinema/tv piece and then go whine about how shill accounts are taking over.
Then again, I truly don't understand the amount of backlash Seth gets, that's stardom for you. He is such a funny and relatable dude, evidently hard working and always at the forefront of the industry.
Who are all these other shills talking smack from the comfort of their messy, smelly sofas anyway?
The fact that Seth & Evan have the clout to constantly reel in top-tier talent in their projects says all that it needs to be said about their standing.
Now go watch this frantic show.
