Remakes are an interesting thing in cinema. Because most of the time, they are remakes of originally good movies to begin with. So, what's the point? I guess part of the blame goes to the audience, because it's a title they recognize and they just go for it. In my defense, I saw this movie on YouTube, I guess even the owners to the rights don't care about this movie. I like Carpenter's movies, I don't think he is a genius or something, nor do I treat his movies as masterpieces as some hipsters often do, but they are generally good and charming movies. The Fog (1980) was a good movie. This remake was really not needed, but I don't think people hated this movie because it was a pointless remake, but because it's a bad movie. Forget that it was a remake for a second, as a stand alone movie, it's just bad. And I'll sound a little contradictory here, but if there are movies out there that you can beat and make a better one with a remake, this should have been one of them, but they just failed... Just avoid it, don't even watch it on YouTube for free, it's actually your precious time, this is not worth it...
