What starts off as some quirky rom com, had me in a blubbering mess by the end. As a person whom has been in longish relationships, this really gave me the feels. The destination is fairly predictable, but it throws the odd curveball getting there, which kept me on my toes throughout. The three leads have great chemistry, in particular Olsen, who really should be A-list by now ... Miles Teller is extremely likeable here too and also deserves a huge hit after his breakthrough performance in Whiplash, which already seems so long ago. This is a rom com that really delivers the goods, and makes one contemplate over our own life after seeing the film. Life really is a collection of memories....
As much as i enjoyed the first movie, i never thought that highly of it that it should warrant a franchise. My suspicions were proven correct, when i found the second one, Glass Onion to be such a bore. So i went into this minimal expectations, but the main reason in giving it a go was because i really like this set of actors. This by far was the funniest of the 3, and the mystery with a religious spin was so much more engaging than the previous 2. The MVP of the movie is the exceedingly likeable Josh O'Connor and Glenn Close is always worth seeing.
There was no way where Wicked For Good was going to reach the resounding heights of the first film, simply because all the best songs and fun world building are in the first act. That being said, this second act continuation makes the best of the much maligned second half, to reach a satisfying finale, since you really buy into the bond between Elphaba and Galinda. This is in no small part thanks to the chemistry and dedicated performances from Cynthia Erivo and Arianna Grande. By the time you reach the For Good duet, you are totally invested in their friendship and the waterworks will start flowing. Overall, i found the Wicked! Movies had exceeded my initial expectations and i love that we have one of those old school extravagant musicals that we've really been missing these last few years.
