I believe the Megan Follows production is surely the best of all the versions that have been produced... I saw the 1934 version with Tom Brown (wonderful actor) on TCM this morning. It was OK, but many things had been changed for some inexplicable reason!

However, the production with Megan Follows and Colleen Dewhurst does not suffer when brought to the screen. Being a mini-series it takes its time to show us the characters and all their quirks. In my opinion, no production can compare to the Megan Follows version. It's simply brilliant. All the actors embodied their roles to perfection.

I watched it over a Saturday and Sunday, 6 years ago, as there were at least 2 tapes and maybe more. Later on, I tried to read the books but after seeing Megan Follows, I just couldn't. Perhaps I am too old now...after all, they are children's books with all the fantasies woven in that children have.

I recommend this production to everyone--this movie will blow your socks off. Megan with her flaming and flowing hair is such a perfect Anne. I cannot explain how wonderful the actors are playing Marilla and Matthew. You just have to see it yourself.

The Flag, movie short, was shown at the end of another movie on TCM yesterday... I was about to erase the movie Hairspray when the music by Vivek Mandala made me stop and check out the movie.

I found the film very enjoyable and the music was nice. The music was updated just enough...

I have no problems with this movie!! Shorts like this are important because it shows the thinking of the American people at the time in a way a school book CANNOT! This one way to reach kids and make them realize people are so different now.

The thinking and moires of the time (1927) when this film was made. This is history at its best. We may not agree with the attitudes of 1927, or 1776, but its important to realize we have come very far in some ways, and not in others.

I thought referring to childbirth as the Shadow of the Valley was really funny and shows the thinking of the time. Even in 1927, they are not admitting a woman has sex and can get pregnant. But my greandmother has told me in those days having a baby was a very serious thing and many women died in childbirth. With no antibiotics or ether yet, childbirth was quite frightening.

Even tho were were in a war with them it was obivious from the movie that most of the officers on both sides had no stomach for fighting their countrymen, the British obviously are now our friends, and why shouldn't they be? After all, the country was founded by the British. Europeans came later.

I liked the music and for the time it was made, the color was great. I would give this film a big thumbs up. It ought to be shown every July 4th...

I am surprised that no one has commented on the fact that they were indeed at some point living in the same time line!!

1. he was able to see her at the train station and retrieve her book. 2. he went to a party at her house, danced with her and kissed her. Same time line!

so where does the timeline diverge? On Valentine;s Day 2006, he dies and time not only stops for him but he must go back in time to 2004...

does his love for Kate cause his spirit to remain earthbound and travel back to 2004 to communicate with her again and possibly undo his premature death?

I think that an author ought to know the solution for himself when he ends the book. Even if he never reveals it he needs to know what the solution is and not leave it up to readers to figure out.

Anyone can jumble up an novel with lots of confusing patterns, but if the author himself knows the solution, you get glimmers of it thru the story.

I am not sure this author knew what he wanted to say except that they loved each other and time had no meaning.
