Is this a top notch, edge of your seat, gnarly and intriguing cop show? Not at all. Is it quietly enjoyable? Absolutely! The first episode or two is certainly generic, loose and bit stilted, but after episode 3, the characters started to mesh, so the potential vibe of the show begins to shine through. If seen as more of a "small town family drama", centred around the sheriff, family, and colleagues, then it has a niche we viewers still need. That being shows with likeable main characters and the chance to add in some depth, growth and grit as time goes by. Not all shows need to be riveting or gut churning. A low key build is nice too.
The premise of this is very much like The Mallorca Files. Both series are set on a tourist island, with two very different male and female police officers. One of the police officers has arrived on the island to work, but is under a mysterious cloud. After joining forces with a very established local officer, both end up being a great team after a wonky start. They solve some tough cases as both are very capable in their own way and their unique skill sets mesh incredibly well. There is also amazing country side and interesting locals to enjoy as well.
The similarities to the other series aside though, Saint Pierre is a very enjoyable show on its own merits. I really hope it does well and we get to see many more seasons.

It is a light-hearted action romp of a movie and very enjoyable. Once the usual Hollywood tropes are out of the way, (in the set up scenes), it really comes alive. John Cena has a lot of charm as an actor (in his wooden tough guy persona) and this role is no exception. All the cast were great and its quirkiness was allowed to shine through. The actor who played the El Presidente was a total hoot, and so slippery smart. The main bad guy was well played, delivering a couple of alternate view points that are of interest. This movie wasn't even too "America the bad, or the great" but utilised both aspects of that archetype. It is a fun movie and we viewers need some of those. Nice to just enjoy yourself, without being "woked" to death.!!!! .
