If you had 2 hours and literally nothing better going on... sure you could put this movie on, maybe in the background while you do a hobby or something. The dialogue feels really forced and cringey a lot of the time. The main guy in the movie is the biggest weak point, he lacks charisma. This movie is also not doing anything unique in any way, after I finish this review I'm pretty sure I will never think of it again. IMDB is requesting a 200 more characters. If you haven't seen the TV show "the good place" I would recommend watching that or this 1998 Japanese movie called "after life" or that black mirror episode "hang the DJ". I think all those suggestions have an interesting take on the afterlife and on romance in a way that is much more dynamic content.

I watched clips of this on YouTube and it was hard to justify getting a subscription to DROPOUT, but after watching the first episode I was pretty interested. The premise leaves so much space for chaos I was genuinely curious to see what happened when you take a bunch of the funniest people on the internet and then give them the ability to gain wealth by messing with their friends, it seemed like an opportunity for shenanigans. After watching this series I thought it was hilarious way to highlight student debt and its effects. There are moments where I felt genuinely uncomfortable watching it, which doesn't sound like a positive but it reminded me of the awkwardness I felt while watching Peep Show (also great). As a person who does not like most reality shows, I was shocked how much I enjoyed watching two likable people try to mess with each other's lives.

Straight Outta Compton was so much more than I expected, I was looking for an excuse to listen to some classic rap really loud in a theater. Like "Mamma Mia" for Abba or "Across the Universe" for the Beatles, this movie gives you that and a stylized documentary. It paints a picture of a world most of us can't relate to, with a soundtrack most of us have heard.

From the first minute it hits you and keeps you hooked. There are so many dark and tense moments that almost hurt to watch but is broken up with characters that add humor/hope to these situations. Obviously this is set in the past but it also speaks to a reality people still live with: racism, abuse of power, poverty, exploitation and a lot of issues touched on in the film/music.

That being said it was great I laughed/ smiled countless times. Though not a die hard fan of NWA but really enjoyed the story, music and loved watching the introductions of new artists over time.

This was my first movie review, primarily in response to the reviewers who gave this movie a 1/10. There is a lot of irony in the fact people would be so hostile about an NWA film, when the movie is about people being hostile towards NWA music for similar reasons. Take a step back and realize you agree with the oppressive society of 25+ years ago... who are (kinda) the bad guys in this movie.
