  • One of my top 10 favorite movies

The acting is superb. Gloria Swanson, William Holden, Erich von Stroheim, Nancy Olsen, Cecil B. DeMille and I knew I recognized him Jack Webb. The old mansion, Schwabs Pharmacy and downtown LA in 1950. Few movies hold my attention like Sunset Bouleovard. Hollywood in 1950. What a time to live in California and work in Hollywood. Its movies like this that make me wish I would have given it a go even if I ended up as a regular extra. I met a lady online who roomed with Farrah Fawcett and knew many of the actors and dated some of the most famous actors sons. Her stories are fascinating to me but then Hollywood history is fascinating period.

  • That poor 1961 Corvette

In the first season of Route 66, their convertible corvette sure does a lot of dirt road driving. Being a classic car guy I cringe every time I watch their corvette drive and romp over rough dirt roads. I wonder if anyone else feels the same way.

That said this episode is set in northern Arizona in and around the city of Page. Having lived in Arizona since 1967 I found that part interesting. I like the guest actors too. Edgar Buchanan makes a great old prospector and Inger Stevens does a great job playing the unhappy sexy wife of a multi-millionaire. It wasn't the best episode of Route 66 in my opinion but the actors and the location hold it together. My guess is the story of the Lost Dutchman Mine had a lot to do with the writing of this episode. All in all its worth a watch especially if you live in northern Arizona.

  • Made me laugh

This movie isn't deep or well acted and its plot is on the level on my high school mentality. That said I would put this movie in the raunchy funny classic category. It was funny and reminded me so much of my high school days. I don't need all my movies to be Gone With the Wind or The Sweet Smell of Success or Sunset Boulevard type quality movies. This was a Saturday morning movie for me and I was drinking my first cup of strong coffee. This movie cracked me up and was refreshing on a don't have to think about anything and be entertained by T & A on a high school pranks kinda level. And this was not your normal level T & A this was on a bodacious T & A level in my opinion. If you're in the mode for a screwball kinda of movie from the early 1980s you will enjoy this movie. Movies to me are entertainment and Screwballs made me laugh and brought me back to my high school days so I gave it a solid 7. Oh and by the way, I related most to the naive Tim character who received detention because he was tricked into going into the girls locker-room. That was 100% me. I wasn't one of the popular guys and I wasn't a geek. I was just an average student who lacked street smarts but I sure had a lot of fun with my buddy's doing stupid innocent screwball stuff.
