I watched Where the Crawdads Sing (2022) after reading the novel, and for me the book is much better. The film has some really strong moments, and it often looks stunning, especially in the marsh scenes. But overall it didn't hit me as deeply as the story on the page.
Daisy Edgar-Jones was perfect in Normal People, but here she didn't fully work for me. While reading, I imagined Kya Clark very differently, so it was hard to connect with this version of the character. That's not to say the acting is bad, just that it didn't match my personal picture of Kya.
One interesting detail: even though the story is set in North Carolina, the film was actually shot in Louisiana, around places like Houma and the wetlands near Lake Pontchartrain, which helps explain the rich, atmospheric scenery.
Another nice touch is the original end-credits song "Carolina" by Taylor Swift, written especially for the film and inspired by the book.
I'm keeping this spoiler-free because it's best to experience the story yourself. If you haven't read the book, the film may work even better. For me, it's a 6/10: good in parts, beautifully made, but the novel is the real winner.

I rewatched 11:14 after more than a decade, and it impressed me just as much as the first time. This film is a smart, tense thriller that keeps you curious from start to finish.
What makes it special is the way it shows the same events from different people's perspectives. You see familiar scenes again, but each time you understand a bit more, because you are following another person or group. Little by little, the film connects the pieces and reveals more of the mystery. It's very satisfying, and it keeps the suspense strong all the way through.
I don't want to spoil anything, because the best part is discovering how everything fits together. If you like films that are fast, clever, and full of tension, you should definitely watch this one. For me, it's an easy 10/10.

I watched "A Beautiful Mind" again after more than twenty years, and this was only my second viewing. To be honest, it will probably be my last. The film has over 1,400 reviews on IMDb, so almost everything possible has already been said about it, and there isn't much new to add. Still, I wanted to share my personal impression.
The first time I saw it, many years ago, it felt fresh, emotional and very powerful. This time, I still found it interesting and well made, but the experience was not as strong as before. I think the film works best when you watch it for the first time, when everything feels new and surprising. After so many years, I remembered parts of it, so the emotional impact was a bit weaker.
Russell Crowe gives a very good performance, and the film has a strong atmosphere from the beginning. The story moves slowly but with purpose, and it keeps your attention even if you already know the general direction. The music and the visual style are still beautiful, and some scenes remain very touching.
Even if I didn't enjoy it as much as I did many years ago, I still think it's a good film. It's thoughtful, sensitive and well acted. For me, this second viewing felt more like a calm reminder rather than an exciting discovery. I give it 7 out of 10, and I think many people will still find it worth watching, especially if they are seeing it for the first time.
