  • A good film.

I thought this was a really good film. I'm not really a fan of the 1982 version, I seem to remember having a giggle at the monster and can't quite worship at the altar of John Carpenter. Many people were complaining about it as a horror movie, which I wouldn't class it as per se. In the same way I wouldn't call Alien a horror movie. They are suspense/thriller films set in a Sci-fi genre (albeit Alien is one of the best, which this isn't), and none the worse for it. I liked the old fashioned style of filming, without loads of grey/green CGI, and while it is often a mistake to see 'the monster' in any film, these ones work very well. I did find the end titles off-putting, just keep them in at the end of the film but I understand they were trying to make a point of the 'prequel' thing.

  • Awful Rubbish

I must have watched a different film from some of the reviewers. This was awful. The acting was rubbish, the script seemed to be written by a child, the CGI was amateurish. In short, I couldn't find a single good thing to say about it. I can't even think of anything more to say in order to fill up the ten lines I'm supposed to fill up. Everything about the film was so bad that I'm guessing even the catering made the actors ill. Oh, the weapons wouldn't have stood up to any use either and the costumes were almost as bad as 1 Million Years BC (which I think someone else mentioned). So there we have it, no saving graces whatsoever except it probably paid for Sean Bean's new house extension.

  • Loved it

I really enjoyed this film, it's not Macbeth but I found it engaging and it's 1000% better than some of the films other reviewers mentioned in the same breath (anything with Cruise or Diaz for example. It's far more than fluff and had a real European flavour (based on another Euro film and with most of the people involved European, not surprising). It could have easily gone down the Knight and Day, Bourne route. I'm glad it didn't. It certainly had some flaws but I've yet to see a perfect film anyway, and it reminded and my wife of the Audrey Hepburn/Peter O'Toole style films of the 60's, but brought into the 21 century. It seems that many reviewers had a pre-conceived idea of what the film would be like which I can see would be a problem. It deserves the current 5.9 mark at least, probably more considering the tripe that gets better marks.
