I went into The Occupant (2025) completely blind - no trailer, no synopsis, no expectations. Unfortunately, it didn't matter. What followed was a dull, lifeless experience. The film clearly wants to be clever and cerebral, but instead it's painfully slow, uneventful, and lacking in any real tension or payoff.
The story is simple, the ending I guess is also predictable, but the journey is something else. As someone who hates heights/edges this film really got me. Very well executed, great tension and if it doesn't literally keep you as deep into your seat, rather than the edge of it, nothing will.
Direction was spot on, the angles, lighting and score all contributed to a great movie. There are moments you think come on! But that's all ironed out by the overall feeling and plot of the film. I'm scoring it 10 simply because I've never felt to uncomfortable watching a film! Great job.
If anyone is still reading then this bit of the review is here because I have to leave a minimum of 600 characters.
