Field Marshal Rommel is in a nearby hospital. He has to be kidnapped and taken to England where he'll be swapped for a captured British admiral. What could go wrong?
The British send Colonel Crittenden and his commandoes, that's what.
Crittenden was a brilliant addition to the show. Played in high gear by Bernard Fox, he outranks Hogan and nixes all the American's plans. His episodes nearly always raises the show to its highest levels. And Fox is never less than wonderful in the role.
This episode is a slow starter but once Crittenden shows up it never lets go.

Forget "True Grit." This is John Wayne's best performance. Playing an older, sadder man, he's very touching. One of Hollywood's most dominating leading men should've gotten the Oscar for this. But considering people who never won the Oscar (Cary Grant, Peter O'Toole, Peter Sellers) he's lucky to have bagged one at all.
Wayne plays a cavalry officer on the verge of retirement deeply affected by a long-lost love, as well as more pressing problems.
John Ford's epic eye (literally "eye") was put to good use. He and his camera crew produced a lovely movie.

Nita Talbot always adds to HH with her wonderful, Emmy-nominayed Marya, who apparently plays both sides of the street.
This time she persuades a Nazi general (Gavin mcleod) to use Hogan as a witness to a new Nazi weapon that can destroy anything, anywhere. Then he'll be sent home to convince the US to give up. But what is she really up to?
Things really begin heating up when Major Hochstetter takes over the firing range. ALL HEADS WILL ROLL!
A very funny episode.
