  • Psychological horror gem

Luke (Miles Robbins) is a deeply troubled college student, suffering from a childhood trauma. To help him cope with the trauma, he creates the imaginary character of Daniel (Patrick Schwarzenegger), not realising how dangerous Daniel is! Miles Robbins is very engrossing to watch as the lead, he treats the vulnerability of his character's mental health issues with great care. Patrick Schwarzenegger is equally as fun to watch, showcasing his acting abilities through Daniel, going from charismatic to downright manipulative and evil. A very Chilling and suspenseful psychological horror, kept me questioning the whole time is Daniel real or not?! Get yourself a copy through @spectrevision or @rialtodistributionau, you won't regret it! Out now on DVD and digital in Australia.

  • "Snuff" the film that only gets interesting in the final 10 minutes

    "Snuff" (1976)

"Snuff" was a video nasty that was banned and gained notoriety during the 70s. The film presents itself as a snuff film but it is actually not, the content of the film is not what it made it notorious but the marketing behind the film. There were tag lines for the film such as "The Bloodiest thing that ever happened in front of a camera" and "The film that could only be made in South America... where life is cheap! These tag lines and marketing behind the film is what got it banned, because people believed it to be an actual snuff film and would protest that the film should not ever be shown on screen and that it should be banned, even though most of them hadn't seen the content on the film.

The film "Snuff" was actually made under a different title earlier in the 70s known as "Slaughter" and wasn't intended to be a snuff film at first, but when the film was released it wasn't very successful and therefore was forgotten about for several years until it was picked up again and edited to have a different ending. The final minutes of the film were edited to show an actress on the set of "Slaughter" being murdered in a savage and brutal way to spice up the film, but the previous filmmakers of the original film had no clue that the title of their film had been changed and edited until the initial release of "Snuff".

The point of the controversy of this film is that it's not the content of the film itself but the hype and marketing behind it which lead people to be believe it was a genuine snuff film. The film barely has anything violent in it until the final minutes of the film and the acting is atrocious, but it's a must have for collectors of video nasties!

  • A depraved version to "When a Stranger Calls",

Basically a sick and depraved version of Fred Walton's "When a Stranger Calls" (1979), but not as bad as you might think. It has the same basic plot to "When a Stranger Calls", such as a girl babysitting a child and then gets harassing phone calls from some mysterious guy which then turns threatening. Considering that it comes from Asylum a low budget studio who are known for their less than average movies. Compared to the other films that they have released from that studio, I would say that this is the best that you're going to get from them. Some of the scenes may offend and can be pretty intense and more violent than what you'd expect it to be, but If you got nothing better to do and you're bored, give it a shot, but don't expect it to be that great.
