I'm heading to the middle of season 3 and am loving it thus far. This modern series is willing to be exploratory with various subplots and explorations into character depth and emotions.
I remember old TV shows almost never carried a story-line from one episode to the next(unless it was a 2 parter) while this modern take on MacGyver does it regularly and sometimes the storyline pauses and returns a few episodes later.
Various cast members were shuffled in and out, newly introduced or made sporadic appearances throughout the seasons.
Two cast members that I was disappointed that they didn't partner up more often were MacGyver himself and Riley.
And some of the banter can be mildly annoying but not too often. As a fan of the original MacGyver I have to say that I have found a new favorite in this show.

The story is about an owner of a Bronx night club/stripper bar that is also the head of a Puerto Rican street gang that deals in drugs. He gets into hot water with a rival black gang when they accuse a woman he knows of stealing money from them.
The production value is low but the story and scenery has a certain grittiness to it. Also the acting might not be from well-known movie stars but I still found it enjoyable. You don't see too many movies with stories about Puerto Rican gangs from New York. Of course I realize this movie isn't for everyone, but for me it's a little hidden gem.
