  • One Bad Apple Spoils The Bunch.

Great cast + a decent script + one really bad hack job of acting = a movie that I could not even get through more than halfway.

    And that's being generous.

Betsy Sodaro, you definitely get my vote for a 2024 Raspberry Award in the category of Worst Supporting Role in a Movie (that would have been pretty decent if you hadn't just gone in and taken a big, steaming...) Well, I think you get where I'm going with this.

I love Diane Keaton, Eugene Levy, Alfre Woodard, and Dennis Haysbert, and they were all the best parts of this movie. Still, it was not enough to overcome one of the worst acting jobs I have ever had the misfortune of watching.

So, there ya have it: you've been forewarned. What you do now is entirely up to you.

See you at the Cineplex, gang.

  • Grade A, Top-notch Thriller

I consider myself a pretty average movie reviewer. I agree with about 70% of the reviews, and since 70% of the movies on here have between a six to seven out of ten rating, I'd say that makes me pretty average.

That being said, as an average movie reviewer, I have to say that this movie was great. The action sequences - and there are plenty of them - are filmed and edited with a pristine preciseness that I usually see in big, budget Hollywood blockbusters. "Collide" is an edge-of-your-seat kind of thriller that keeps you pinned to the screen from Jump Street.

Now, are you going to walk away from this movie, thinking, "Yeah, that could definitely happen to someone!" No.

    Probably not.

Still, this a great couple of hours of escapist entertainment. Give it a shot. I think you'll agree. That is, if you're an average movie watcher.

  • Cage is mellow... and that's good.

The one thing this movie's budget needed was another $100 to get the camera operator a warmer coat because during about half the movie, they were just a-shiverin' up a storm.

Now, of course, I realize that there's more than one camera person during a movie shoot, but if you watch this movie, you'll see right quick the point that I'm making.

Pretty much everything else in this low-budget thriller is spot on. Nic Cage does some of his best work acting like a sane, normal human being. Both the boys in the movie are dead, solid perfect. Even the sparse minor roles that there were in this film were handled nicely. Even the dog was pretty great.

The script was not overdone because there wasn't a need for a lot of slick talking and dopey one-liners.

The backstory in this tale is pretty much non-existent, so if you want to know why the setting for this movie is what it is, you'll need to watch the trailer.

One last thing: is it me, or does the dark-haired brother in this flick very resemblant of Harry Potter?
