  • Two lost souls in search of belonging

First, while the film is not-rated I would give it a rating of PG-13,because of some of the subject matter. The film does a beautiful job of demonstrating how people have a universal desire to be a part of a family. It's a sweet story how two people who are separated by thousands of miles can still effect one another greatly.Redemption, purpose, and life's ongoing search to love and be loved are strong themes throughout the film. While I did enjoy the movie,I would have liked to have seen the film-makers give more attention to the earliest years in the orphanage and the hardships Mei Mei had to endure. Overall, you'll come away from watching 33 Postcards feeling happy.

  • Happy Tears

There are plenty of tears shed on the screen and even more by the movie theater audience, myself included. The movie does a beautiful job portraying the lives of the Chinese adoptees and the many challenges they face. One thing that I took away from Somewhere Between is the need the children shared in knowing about their heritage. For some it is a desire to perhaps visit the orphanage or village they came from or for others it may be too track down their birth parents. The movie is an absolute delight and will appeal to a wide range of movie-goers,but will especially touch those in the adoption community who can relate first hand about the heartfelt journey of adoption.

  • Juvenile Kung-Fu

The film had potential with a decent storyline and all-star cast, but fails to pull in the viewer to care about the characters or outcome of the story. The movie far too often goes for cheap, juvenile sexual exploitation. The target audience for the movie seems geared towards males 16-24 and no one else.I've also noticed that the more people see the film the ratings here on IMDb decline.RZA also has very little acting skills and it was a major reason why the movie falls flat. Russell Crowe and Lucy Lui did a fair performance, but even they couldn't salvage the movie.I'm being very critical with my review b/c it's unfortunate to see a movie that had the potential, but didn't live up to it.
