Unfortunately you can really tell it was written by a man, a man who clearly hasn't done much research into the topic.
The characters are so stereotypical it hurts, which really let things down. The character arcs make no sense and then the way the scenes chop between each other is just jarring.

Wanting a good origin movie for Tony Soprano, not watching his predecessors "sort of" doing some organised crime.
It started off very badly when I read the plot summary for the movie and it said "the most iconic mob boss of all time", I assume they forget about the Corleone family and two more iconic mob bosses in those movies.
Then I started the movie, the actors were all very well cast, from Tony's mum and dad to his uncle and "uncle".
The story was very boring and the wrong part of Tony's life to put into a movie, how this got greenlit is just astounding to me when all the big selling movies currently are huge visual dumpster fires of explosions and guns.
I feel like the whole movie should of been a montage and the movie should of started with Dickie in his coffin and Tony imagining doing the pinkie swear with him.
Overall, disappointed but not surprised really.
