American Skin is an amazing movie tackling two hard subjects. Let me emphasize, this movie is not anti-police it is a look into our flawed system. Nate Parker did a great job, the acting is superb. If only what happened in this film, could actually take place, we may just be able to see each other as human beings and not by skin color or uniform color. I'm so glad my cousin recommended this to me and I will recommend so, as many people can view and think before acting!
Vampires vs. The Bronx was a cute dare I say, family movie. I don't get the comparisons to The Lost Boys at all. It's a campy decent movie with good young actors, that used a real life issue as it's foundation. Gentrification and re-Genetrification is a serious subject, that has invaded inner cities forever. I think, the use of Vampirism and "taking over" of neighborhoods (that are primarily inhabited by people of color) was a unique take. Kudos to the young brothers, who did a good job imo. Check it out, it's definitely not the worst way to spend 1.45 hours!
Episode 1 is really good. The acting, pacing, scenery, etc. Courtney B. Vance is always good in his roles and I'm excited to see the brother that plays Atticus shine. Journee was good and I'm always excited to see Aunjanue Eliis (she's criminally underrated). I'm a sci-fi fan and so far, the show seems like it's going to be a treat to watch. Don't listen to the naysayers, watch for yourself and make a decision!
