This is why I hardly go to the movies any more.. I thought this one might be worth seeing on the big screen. All it was is a waste of money and time.
I am convinced that someone paid someone under the table at Rotten Tomatoes to rate this piece of garbage over 80 percent fresh, which led me to decide to go see it. Yeah.. it's not even close.. It's bad, a really bad movie.
It reminds me of the slow, lethargic, melancholy, and absolute depressing production, acting, writing and horrific directing that went into First Man (2018) which was the absolute WORST portrayal of a great American hero in Neil Armstrong (played by a melancholy, over-rated 'Canadian' actor ---which should have been my first warning sign it would be bad).
This movie has exactly that same feel, almost a rip-off of that same lethargic, close-up-face scenes and SLOW and quasi-claustrophobic and absolutely BORING style.. that some MORON once decided was a good way to make a movie, and a series of MORONS have followed since, right off that cliff.
What is happening in movie making? This one had no cast with any significant roles (except Pitt, who I like..especially in his previous movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood). This movie has NO plot, NO story development, NO character development, absolutely horrible writing, garbage script and most of all a bad director who made it all happen.
STUDIOS... QUIT MAKING MOVIES OF THIS STYLE.. THEY STINK!!
THIS MOVIE WAS SO DIFFICULT TO WATCH.. It was VERY poorly cast, acted, written and directed. It reminds us how well and professionally-made the previous movie "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" (1988) that this is a remake of, was so well cast, very well acted, and by very talented comedy actors/actresses and professionally written and directed. This movie "The Hustle" (2019) felt like a performance by a bunch of junior high school students, or 20-somethings at best, putting forth their best attempt of making their own version of that movie. There could have been a great potential for a women-leading-role version of that movie --- but this one FAILED horribly due to its cast.
I don't even know her name, that's how much I think of her on-screen talent or lack thereof, and how much I prefer to continue NOT knowing her by name, but I'm referring the one who was cast 2nd to Hathaway.. She made this movie absolutely atrocious (I also blame her director who allowed so many scenes to be the final cut, when it looks like they are just practicing in every scene -- especially that person). She was so very difficult to watch. Her acting (I've sen before) is blase, dull, lacking in the utmost way any talent whatsoever -- only moviegoers who lack any eye for comedic talent would support her) and she is certainly not worth the price of any movie ticket. I've vaguely seen her in other movies and thought the same. Then there's Hathaway's un-commanding presence as well as some of the worst use of foreign accents I've ever seen by an actor. It's not her fault.. she was just a poor choice for the role, most anyone would agree, which only proves this movie was horribly cast. The casting is its #1 problem, very poor acting follows as the second worst thing about this movie, and finally, very poor directing/producing that allowed it all to happen. This movie should not have been made the way it was. Where Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is a classic, and collectable -- I proudly own it on Blu-ray, The Hustle is downright forgettable (and unforgivable) and no one will remember it by next year.
But then that's just sugar coating it.
This documentary is PERFECT in capturing The United States at its best, in one of its many best moments in history ... an amazing achievement like no other, accomplished by some of the best, educated minds coming together for a common cause.
This documentary offers all REAL footage, gathered together from a massive amount of first-time-seen footage from the Archives of NASA and other sources.
Also, it is indeed, the perfect film to offset that garbage of a movie, "First Man" that was recently released that starred that highly-overrated actor Ryan Gosling who brings nothing but melancholy to every character he plays and atrociously did so to Neil Armstrong's character (Hey, if I spoke that infrequent in a movie with a stupid look on my face I could act too) and not to mention absolutely HORRIBLE director, Chazelle, who's intent, I thoroughly believe, was to take all of the joy out of this American story and detach it from being an actual achievement of the United States and add insult to injury by making everyone in it highly flawed and depressed, including Neil Armstrong. Who was a GREAT upbeat man, but who just hated talking to the moronic media (..that alone, by the way, makes him a hero with me). This film, Apollo 11, takes you back to what it truly was: amazing men & women in unapologetically the best country in the world, achieving an AMAZING accomplishment to place a human on the moon and return them safely home. Just stop and think about that -- a human on the moon. Now go see it! It will remind you how amazing this country has been, and will make you think how it's changing and needs to do what it takes to continue to be the best and not weakened by the global dilutionists. USA!!
