Implausible at every turn. Good concept badly realised. The audience have been taken for sheep. To understand the conflicts of the characters, we have to suspend disbelief of everything that happens along the way. And the hair! Can Suranne Jones ever have good hair? It seems not. Same goes for her wardrobe....just appalling.
We have all seen so many 'Post' - Apocalyptic screen dramas, but this is probably the first 'Pre' - Apocalyptic one I have seen. And its an amazing premis, that people must re-act to something that hasn't quite happened yet. Of course the conundrums are just as eviscerating and the emotions are as devastating. This is a TV series not to be binged - more than one episode a night would create emotional overload.
This is classy production at all levels but it is the script that drives this seemingly predictable story to its very unsettling conclusion. Excellent production values, casting, direction, acting etc. Marie Bach Hansen is luminescent in the lead, principled and strong, yet vulnerable. While Simon Sears as her husband projects ambition with an undercurrent of shiftiness - charming but with a faulty moral compass. The conundrums at the end are deeply disturbing, yet the script allowed these threads to weave themselves almost casually throughout the six episodes. Such a nice change from unduly complex and confusing screenplays that leave the audience wondering whats going on. This is family drama at the highest level. Highly recommended.
