I was looking forward to this movie as I like the character and thought it was cast well, however the initial reviews I read had me thinking this was a substandard B movie at best. After venom, morbius and Madame web I assumed things could only get better.

The story although crass suggests viewers will be aware of the the character and his back story. The action sequences were immense and the lead actor definitely looks like a super hero, this was a fun watch, not too taxing but enjoyable, Kraven would sit comfortably at the table on the MCU rota. A larger than life character to carry a film, hopefully with gravitas and style .. hope it's not his last outing.

If you watch this film there classic Brandon Lee version in mind you will be sadly disappointed. This incarnation is to ally completely different. Although visually at times it's masterful and the leads offer up some good performances, ultimately it's a disappointing tale. The titular hero doesn't have the gravitas or presence of Brandon Lee although he tried, the story was shabby and porky conceived, the prospect of eternal love and soul mates after 5 mins was typical of a face book relationship .. it's worth a watch but it's not even as good as the poorly received Crow 2, I think that says it all.

As a fan of Take That and then Robbie as a solo performer, I was intrigued to watch this film. Expectations weren't particularly high. However with an inventive director and eclectic cast I thought let's give it a go. Much to my surprise this was actually very good, within 5 mins of this biopic I forgot the lead was actually a chimpanzee, the story is warts and all gritty and desperate at times, but it's written, shot and acted quite beautifully the CGI is up there with planet of the apes. The songs selected as the soundtrack make the flow of the film run smooth and definitely direct the narrative..
