Seriously, this could possibly be the best movie of the year. I just spent a few minutes scrolling through all of the 2025 releases - and there are some really good ones coming out (one we've been waiting on for 28 years!) - and I have no idea how any of those movies will be able to top what I just watched. I thought Ryan Coogler peaked with Black Panther, but this movie blew me away. As soon as the movie ended, we agreed that we absolutely could have stayed and watched it again immediately after. No doubt we will go back to see it in the theaters again, then buy and watch many times at home.
Based on the weird concoction of a premise, I went in expecting a 6/10 with a double dose of eye candy, but it was an absolute 10/10. I watch lots and lots of movies every year, from B movies to blockbusters, so my taste is all over the place.
I won't get into the actual movie cause lots of other people did. So, just go and see it!

I watch a lot of B movies (in addition to blockbusters) because, despite the low budget, many times they're really good at something - telling a unique story, action, martial arts, etc. So, I get excited at the possibility of discovering a gem, while also keeping my overall expectations low-ish.
Die Alone was no different, with a current rating of 5.7, but boy, was it different!
This is a very different take on zombies, mostly because it's more of a drama with romance, rather than an action movie. And if romance is not your thing (it's not my go-to), you should still consider it because it has a lot going for it. Even though there are little clues as to what's going on from the beginning, there's enough mystery to make you want to keep watching and see it play out.
One fair warning, though: Putting Frank Grillo on the poster was really just click bait, cause he's in a total of maybe 10 minutes.

I'm not a gamer and have never played Halo, so I don't know if that affected my viewing experience.
Reading the reviews, a lot of the bad ones are from gamers who didn't think this followed source material, etc - which is understandable. However, based on their comments, it's very obvious that lots of people who gave this bad ratings didn't actually watch more than 2-3 episodes, which I find very unfair.
I like sci-fi and the cast, and I really enjoyed the show. The story was ok, action was great, and I have no complains about the CGI. I also really liked how, at times, the show gave us the perspective as if we were playing the game.
John, Kai and Soren were my favorite characters. I was already a big fan of Pablo Schreiber and Bokeem Woodbine, but I'd never seen Kate Kennedy in anything else before. She's definitely going to be on my radar now.
This left an opening for season 2, which I would love to see.
If you like sci-fi and/or the cast, I say give this a chance - especially if you've never played the game.
