I saw this movie donkeys years ago, and was captured by it. In my book Richard Burton can do no wrong, and this is no exception. E Taylor added a nice bit of fluff as Fausts love interest, (how ironic). The movie was very deep and thought provoking, I would highly recommend it to any one with literary appreciation. I appreciated the fact that it was done in black and white, it just added to the Gothic nature of the movie. I found the special effects also quite appropriate, (the worms in the skull, etc). This is indeed a classic movie, and I will make every effort to add it to my collection. In the mean time I would invite anyone who loves a good classic drama to hunt out this fine, old film
A friend of mine directed me to this film on Google video and I downloaded it. Every time I watch it I get choked up, this picture is indeed worth a thousand words. Watching these two old war dogs trying to out do each other is comical and at the same time heart-warming. It is especially poignant for me since my oldest brother went ashore at Omaha Beach and my other brother was on a carrier during WW11. I have searched all over to find the DVD of this to no avail, and it's formated so that I can't make my own DVD. Does anyone know where I can get a commercial version of this? I tried Amazon and no luck, but would like to think that something this great has to be out there somewhere. I would deeply appreciate any leads that you can give me.
I acquired this movie just a week ago, mainly because of the cast. WOW!!! I felt like a fly on the wall in the motel. At first I wondered what kind of junk is this, but I had to keep watching to see how it unfolded, (kudos to the director). It turned out to be a riveting performance on every ones part. Any time you can put together a movie with just 3 cast members and no score, and all in a seedy motel room, and come out with something as profound as this! Hats off to all involved. It's a shame that this movie didn't receive more accolades than it did. This is definitely a keeper, and will highly recommend it to all. I'll be watching this again and again.
