Is that a ringing endorsement? Probably not. But this is just a really fun popcorn movie. The plot is ridiculous. The acting is over the top. Jeffrey Dean Morgan chews more scenery than the beasts, and it's FANTASTIC. His chemistry with the Rock is great. My wife was smiling ear to ear when it was over. I couldn't believe she liked it so much, knowing nothing of the plot or source material. You could do a lot worse with pointless, smash-em-up monster movies, and it would be hard to name many better.
It's clear that Bong knows how to craft a film. His art direction, framing, style are top notch. He clearly has a message as well. That message was conveyed much more effectively in Snowpiercer than Parasite. And it has nothing to do with subtitles. Train to Busan also manages to convey its message and heart through subtitles. The problem with all 3 of these movies is in the ending. They all leave more questions than answers, and the questions aren't very simple. It definitely left me with a bad taste in my mouth, but the first 90% of the movie was well worth the time spent watching.
It doesn't have to make sense. The show gets pretty hammy sometimes. But you can tell they're not actors. Roy is my favorite tv personality ever. Paul and bogey are hilarious. People need to stop being so crabby and just enjoy fun stupidity sometimes. Not family friendly tho. Potty mouthed canadians
