It was a huge surprise to find out there was a Monk movie. Expectations weren't very high, just wanted to see another story of Monk's investigation. I don't think it should have been in the movie Trudy. It seemed like she was just there to fill more time in the movie. Some of Randy's characteristic behavior in the series should not have been maintained in the film as he is now a mature man. It doesn't look and feel artificial. Adrian Monk performed well. Overall, the movie is not bad, but Monk is not for the movie and it shows. The plot is stretched. The beginning takes a long time to watch before it picks up. The most interesting and fun starts after 1 hour of watching. It feels like someone wrote an episode plot for the series and stretched it out with a jumble of filler dialogue or other unnecessary scenes.
If the first part of the film was very good. The second part is so mediocre. And the third part I watch with gritted teeth. It is the fourth part that you have to spare your time, have patience and feel sorry for yourself that you are still watching. Part four does not have an interesting plot. It has no meaningful dealogues. The dealogues are like 2 weak minded people having a conversation. Just pointless. There are so many shootings and fights in the film that it's just boring to watch. You can't keep your attention on the endless gunfights and fight scenes. There are so many illogical places in the film that you start to get angry at the film. John is like some kind of superman. Maybe this is a Marvel movie? And I thought, on principle, if I watched this film not in the cinema but on home video. And I would get through all the action scenes and just watch the dialogue and the key scenes of the film and I wouldn't lose anything. And the film would last me about half an hour. And I would be completely satisfied with the quality.
Expectations were high. The film is visually beautiful. There are a few places where the CGI looks unrealistic or strange. Overall, the film is definitely stretched too far. I wanted to rewind the film more than once. It was hard to sit still. I think a 2 hour running time would be perfect. There are a lot of unnecessary and redundant places. The plot is boring, predictable and has been seen before. There are a lot of similar events where it just seems to be copied from the first part and something slightly changed. I will definitely not try to watch it a second time, and if there is a third part I will definitely not watch it in the cinema.
