How this movie scored so many high reviews is beyond me. It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life and I've seen a lot! It's very clearly low budget, which isn't a problem as I've watched a few low budget movies and a lot of them have been good, but this is bad because it's all over the place, the acting is absolutely horrendous. I cringed many times. It covers a very sensitive topic and thankfully doesn't show too much. But that's the only thing they got right in my opinion. The sound is also not great quality. I didn't choose to watch this movie, it came on automatically after a movie I was watching ended. I wouldn't have chosen to watch it, but I gave it a chance. I was that surprised it had so many good reviews that I had to double check I was on the right imdb page for the right movie. That says it all really.
Wow! I didn't expect too much from this movie. I like to watch movies from the 90s. Some of them haven't been great at all, but this surpassed all of my expectations. I'd definitely watch it again! It's a very emotional movie and I could really feel the raw emotion through Joanne Kerns wonderful acting. The two child actors were also incredibly believable too. It covers such a tough subject and feels so real throughout. Sometimes I do worry about how movies like this will end and I come away feeling frustrated often, but I would say they gave this movie the perfect ending and it went exactly how I hoped it would. It's not boring at all, I have awful concentration but didn't miss any of it. You definitely need to give this one a watch!
I was so excited when I found out about this tv series as I read all of the books when I was a child and we also have all of the books that I read to my children often. I was very disappointed. I watched a few of the episodes hoping that it would start to improve, but it didn't. The tv series is nothing like the books. I looked through the list of episodes trying to find a story I recognised, but there were none. There's no magic, no excitement. It's completely boring with silly music playing throughout. I will say that the children have good acting skills, but that's the only positive thing I can say about this series. They could've done such a good job with adapting the books into a magical, exciting and nostalgic tv series, but they failed sadly.
