First, this is a very well done documentary. The editing, music, and sound is absolutely fantastic. Its not pulling for one side, though, Theresa might feel different. Its a true representation of Dale Earnhardt, from his son, who produced the film. If my father was a great man, an icon, and I did well enough to put a Documentary out there, I would hope it was half as good as this.
If you aren't into racing?... Move along, this Documentary is likely not for you. But, it is incredibly well done.
Its pretty incredible, as a kid from WNC, that grew up when NASCAR was a bit of a joke, that Dale Earnhardt is as revered is always funny. Hes like a WCW/WWF star to me, like, as Jr. Said, a super hero. Not unlike wrestling stars, he put his aura, into NASCAR. He was a heel, and the face of NASCAR, and nobody's done it better.
I wore my Dale Earnhardt T Shirt, that I got from Daytona, in 94, till it was threadbare. I am biased, and a fan. Still, this is a great documentary, and im glad his children showed that side.

Oh....man, just wow. Tears were shed, emotions felt, and old memories of past relationships resurfaced. There is no good guy, no bad guy, or some creepy and intrusive technology or monster. There is just life, or past life and one's own memory of it.
Booker has stated that this episode is a companion piece to Be Right Back and The Entire History of You. Absolutely, though both of those installments are much, much darker. Eulogy is very neutral in its approach, as we simply watch Phillip(Giamatti) on his journey that's led by The Guide(Patsy Ferran). Both are truly superb, Giamatti does all of the heavy lifting, his monologs are barely noticeable, but present and necessary. Ferran is subtle but still assertive as her character pushed the narrative, she should be praised for her performance, as should Giamatti.
I'd honestly like to see this episode get some love during award season. The last episode of TV that I can remember, that's this good, and structured in such a similar way was Station Eleven's: Goodbye My Damaged Home. It was, like Eulogy, essentially just a minimally casted stage play, but on TV. There are only two characters of substance during Eulogy's runtime, yet the viewer wont notice.
I think this episode will resonate much stronger with an older demographic, those that have lived long enough to put significant time between great loves, or friendships, that they have lost, or have simply let whither away. Regardless, the writing, production and acting are absolutely excellent. Are there some contrivances with the plot, maybe, I guess? For me they were minor, and necessary to push a compelling narrative.
Top 5 Black Mirror episode for me, truly extraordinary television.

Its a fantastic film, not sure why so many feel the need to be over-critical. I guess Eggers work does that. When The Witch was released many hated it, ditto The Lighthouse, and again with Northman.
If you don't like Eggers work...go watch something else, why torture yourself? Is it so that you can feel cool or relevant by trashing a film you know you are going to dislike? I've never understood why individuals feel the need to come on IMDB and write ridiculous reviews on films, when it's so remarkably obvious from their words, they had no intention of giving a film a shot.
If you enjoy Eggers work, I'd say chances are you'll love this film. Personally, I thought it was spectacular.
Cinematography was a highlight, as were the sets and costumes. The writing was strong, and in typical Eggers fashion the dialogue was exceptionally period. All of the actors hit their marks, this was my personal introduction to Ms. Depp and she did not disappoint. The music/score is my only knock, it was a bit overwhelming.
8,5/10 very, very similar to The Witch.
