I'm the kind of guy who loves movies with a very specific atmosphere. I had 2 favourite movies that met that criteria. I've seen them almost 10 years ago. Since then, I haven't seen anything that captivatig - until now. I was in awe and shock in the whole time, by how good the directing was, how perfectly every little scene was orchestrated to a brilliant masterpeace. The base idea could have been a boring, same old teen love story - but it wasn't, it was fresh. I could have been dull. It wasn't, oh my, how much it wasn't. The pace was quite slow, that's always a double-edged sword, so it could have lost me, but it just dragged me deeper and deeper into the story. It was just the perfect amount of eariness to it, so much so, that I could not tell from start to finish, wheather it will be really a fantasy, or not. The feelings of the two main characters were real, cutting to the bone and portrayed superbly. Somehow I think for male audience like me it might hit closer than females, but I could be wrong.
I'm still in absolute awe, writing these sentences and hour after finishing it. Pure art, what a first movie as a director.

I don't know if I've ever seen a slow moving crime-drama just flew by in an instant. The storytelling ws one of the best I've seen. I could constantly feel something brewing beneath, and every word, every sentence was meaningful, and powerful. I was closely watching every minutes of it, and that's a very rare occasion for me. For some reason, time was passing quicker than watching a fine blockbuster, despite being much slower. I didn't find the end so bad as other reviews, but still that's the only reason it's a 9 for me.
Hence the character-driven theme, it wouldn't have worked if it wasn't for the main actress's absolutely haunting performance.

The story is great, the concept is original, they really nailed their atmosphere too.
But Jim Caviezel. I just can't get over the fact how bad he is. Probably the worst I've ever seen, the main character from Arrow is the only competition that I've seen. Not a single facial expression for seasons, not a single believable line delivered. And that paired with the uniqe play of the others, especially Emerson, made the scenes really cringeworthy. I almost quit the show its sooo bad. But the plots are really good. If the show was just a hair worse, I'd quit watching. I don't know, what they were thinking with Caviezel.
