Jim Jarmusch seems to be On-Board with the Vastness of Votes that the "Zombie-Sub-Genre" has been Completely Consumed and Left as Dry as the Dirt-Puffs that Spray from the "Walking Dead" when They are Beheaded, in this Dead-Pan, Nothing Left to Show or Say Zombie Flick from the Purveyor and Proud Indie Stalwart Jarmusch...
and that's What He Gives the Brain-Dead Fans that Eat-This-Stuff-Up Crowding-Out Other Possible Themes and Scenarios that Don't Come from the Grave After Being Done-to-Death, and then Some.
So, it's a Zombie-Movie for those that Need Another, all 3 of Them, and what is Offered-Up is Void of Anything Beyond Name-Actors Showing to Recite Lines, a Camera Operator to Point and Shoot, and an Editor, to Piece it All Together for the Watching.
Exposing the Obvious Reflection of the "State of Play" that Remains, and what Remains is Matter-Less and it Doesn't Matter Anyhow.
Because People that Haven't Given Up the Ghost and Moved On to Another Entertainment that isn't Rotten-to-the-Core Suffering From an Onslaught of Extermination Resistance Only Parallel by the "Slashers".
Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, and Chole Sevigny Head and All-Star Cast that seems by Parcipitation to Applaud the Obvious, but Unrecognized Death of Anything Zombie.
The Only Thing Approaching Homage is for a Horror-Rock-Artist to Adopt the Name and Move On...Oh Wait a Minute...

The Haughty MGM Studio (usually considered the most prestigious) Shunned Film-Noir as Long as Possible. Perceived as Low-Life, both Style & Substance, and Considered the Genre "Beneath" its Moral Superiority.
From the Beginning MGM was "King of the Hill" and Bragged about their Clean-Cut, Wholesome Movies, Deriding the Competition for Pandering to the "Dark Side". Once Asked about WB and its "Message-Movies", someone at the Roaring-Lion Studio Said..."We don't send messages, that's a job for Western Union".
That's Ridiculous and Misleading. Of Course MGM Sends Messages, its Part of the Arts DNA, and by Nature All Art is "Messaging", Manifested in Form. What the Mogul Should have Said, to be Honest and Not "Virtue Signaling", is that They Target a Different Audience with a Different "Message" that of "Family Values" for Example.
Finally No Longer Wishing to Ignore the Popularity of Film-Noir...Capitulated to the Capital Considerations, the Public Now More Jaded by the War and More Sharply Focused on the "Real-World" and although "Fantasy and Feel Good" Entertainment is Always Popular, part of the Box-Office-Pie was Now Sliced, accordingly, to Include a Taste-Change to also Include Cynicism and the "Dark Side".
So, Hypocritically, MGM Decided to go Slumming. But Only to Employ the Studio's 2nd Unit in the Process, Hoping to Not Come to Close and Avoid Association.
"No Questions Asked" is a Late-Arrival, as are all MGM-Noirs, and has the Backing and Resources to Make a Movie anyway they Choose. But Playing in Film-Noir where it is Against the Grain of the Studio Resulted in a Slick, almost Detrimental to the Style Picture.
But the Lion's Roar Reaches Far and is Resounding that can't Mask where it Came-From.
To Say that the Film is a Typical Film-Noir, Makes the Point. Mimickery from MGM is Acceptable...Welcome to the Party Freeloaders. Not so Haughty Now. Get Out the High-Powered Disinfectant.
Note...MGM would not even spring for a full-color poster and released the Movie with this ugly Sepia-Toned eye-sore expressing the disdain for the Film-Noir-Genre...Shameful.

Cult-Fave Edgar G. Ulmer as Well as Sex-Pot Payton are Performing Paycheck Prostitution as Both Careers are "Last-Gasp" Servitude.
In Ulmer's Case it was a "Long and Winding Road" with Many High-Lights and Low-Lights. But His Talent, Flair, and Budget-Wrangling Abilities Kept Him Working Steadily, but Usually Restrained by Very-Thin-Production-Values.
His Unique and Sometimes Mesmerizing Methods and Style has been Rewarded with a Steadily Growing Posthumous Respect, Adulation and Appreciation for His Individualized Art-Form and is Called an "Auteur" for Expressly that Reason.
Edgar Ulmer's Best Films Include "The Black Cat" (1932) and "Detour" (1948).
50's Sex-Starlet Barbara Payton seemed to Have More to Offer than the Blonde-Bimbo Icon Pinned on the Type. Those at the Top Saw Something to Believe in and She Quickly Became "Leading-Lady" Opposite James Cagney, Gary Cooper, and Gregory Peck.
But in the Same Year She had Slid to "Bride of the Gorilla" (1951) and Off-Screen Plummeted to Violent Men Causing Tabloid-Headlines to True to Ignore. Her Career was Over After Only 15 Movies. Causing more Alcohol, Drugs, and Finally "Soliciting Sex". She Died of "Liver Failure" at Age 39.
Besides the Lurid "Road-Show-Attraction" of Payton Playing Her Final Role, there is Little Else here to Offer,
Unless You Include the want to See "Inspector Henderson" (Robert Shayne) of "The Adventures of Superman" TV-Show in Virtually the Same Role as an "Inspector".
For Ulmer and Payton the Movie is...
Worth a Watch.
