Writing this review after watching episode 4 of season 5 and let's be honest, nothing has happened from the end of season one until now. We are still in the same position. In simple terms, That one kid got taken and then returned and we're trying to find the guy who did it. That's all that's happened since the end of season 1. This whole show could have been a film or maybe 2 films or even a trilogy. Instead it's half an idea stretched over 10 years.
People rating these episodes 10/10 are absolutely insane. The acting isn't great, the writing is pretty cringe, the story goes literally nowhere and it's feels as though a lot of what's going on is there to be viral. Rating this show or any of its episodes as "perfect" is proof that you're probably just obsessed or you're 13. It's ok for something you love to not be perfect.
If you use words like "GOATED" or "Fire" to articulate your love for this show, maybe wait about 10 years until you're a full adult to start writing reviews.
It's interesting enough to keep me watching but that's about it. Maybe I'll update my review after it's finished but I'm about as frustrated as I could be with this show.

Undoubtedly a great film with some incredible performances but it's just not THAT good. The story is a little contrived and tries a little too hard to be what it so desperately wants to be but just comes off as pretentious. It's so "of its time" that it's painful and it will probably be dated by next year.
That said, the acting is amazing, it's filmed as diligently as you'd expect and the characters/development are fantastic.
A great film that isn't amazing and I'll probably never watch it again.
The problem isn't the film, it's the people who overrate it that are the problem.

Unpredictable and a little disjointed but all to it's benefit. This is a rare film in today's landscape of remakes, reboots and sequels. To see something so genuinely unique and "in its own lane" done so masterfully and such high quality is refreshing.
Dont get me wrong, it isn't perfect. It's a little longer than it perhaps needs to be and I think some of the casting choices were a little questionable but honestly, it was a nice change and kept me fully entertained all the way through.

Loved the first one, almost hated this one. Tries way too hard to be "crazy" and feels like an excuse to move from one fight scene to another. This feels like the 4th film in a franchise. Completely out of ideas and tired. It feels like the main character has been stretched beyond it's limits.
They peaked with the original.

Im not a superman fan. I neither love or hate superman. I'm not a comicbook fan not do I overly love superhero films but I enjoyed this enough. We didn't have to suffer through another superman origin story, it's as grounded in reality as a superman film can be and it had a flying dog.
If you're crying about this "destroying your superman fantasies" maybe you should consider what you're even watching or what may be on your hard drive because you are a weird guy.
It's pretty much exactly what I expected and a little bit more. I didn't expect to have as much fun watching it. It's decent for what it is.
Sorry if you're a grown man who was expecting your wildest dreams to be realised by this film. Maybe just don't watch the sequel.

Imagine you told film students to make an entire movie, on the first day of film school. That film would be better than this.
Disgraceful acting. Awful script. Too long. Horrific camera work. It gets 3 stars because I managed to watch it to the end and it actually had 2 or 3 creepy moments.
Liked the first one enough but this was turd.

This was ok. Not as deep as it wants to be but that's alright. I guess you'd probably appreciate it if you have a really unhealthy relationship with football but if you aren't literally in love with sport, then it comes across as kind of pathetic. It's a shame because the performances were good, the ending was good and so was the start. The who middle was a bit bland and didn't really do anything.
Worth a watch but only just.

Everything goes on for way too long, in this film. Each scene is excruciating. It doesn't know what it is and I hate every single character. It's not funny, it's not scary, it's not romantic. I honestly wish I could unwatch it. I barely made it to the end. Again, It's too long, like an unflushable turd. Terrible.
This is a solid Found Footage film. Follows the formula well and doesn't try too hard. Well acted, well paced. Good writing and doesn't outstay it's welcome. It's not going to change your life but it's a great Found Footage film, for what it is. If you have an hour and half to kill, this isn't A bad choice.
Used to be about up and coming film makers, showing off their superior talents in film making, now it's about low budget "giving it a go" film making. None of these directors are very talented, none of the stories work as well as the older entries, it's just not good. It's gone from high quality on a budget to low quality on zero budget.
The acting in the candy factory segment was the worst I've ever seen.
Really not very good.

They could have taken the bones of this episode and made an entire first season out of it. This is what this show should have been. I've been less than impressed with the show in general but this episode was incredible. The best installment of anything "Alien" since Alien Isolation. If you only watch one episode, make it this one.
Felt much longer than it actually was and is such a mess, story-wise. It's just all over the place and the comedy really isn't what it should be from one of the greatest comedy legends of all time (Murphy) and someone considered to be a voice of the new comedy generation (Davidson).
It felt like they made a whole film so they could use clips of that film, to make an exciting and funny trailer, just so they could scam people into watching the terrible film that they made the trailer for.
Dirty stinking garbage that I just about watched to the end.

Cheap, no story, bad scrips, poorly acted.
I can only imagine that, if you are giving this a high score, you've never really seen a good Korean or Japanese horror/thriller. What is interesting about this bloated mess? The story is about as deep as a very cheap paddling pool and the script feels like it was written by someone who just got banned from Reddit and threatened legal action.
The story could have been told in 15 minutes on a very very low budget.
It's not good. In fact. It's bad. I found it hard to reach the end and after watching it all, I wish I hadn't. Frustrating and boring.
Avoid. If you can read, watch a good foreign body horror film that isn't just full of political trash.

I suspect a lot of the extremely high review scores for this are buzzing off some kind of hype because this is very far from a 9 or 10/10 film. Id argue that, as good as the original was, it was probably still only a 7 (potentially 8) out of 10. It was well paced, the story made sense, it wasnt too long and the acting was realistic and subtle.
This one though... Its like they forgot what was good about the first one and felt they needed to change too much. Affleck seems to have forgotten how to play the character, changing him from a quiet, reserved and focussed (but socially aware) autistic man, to a bumbling clown with a silly voice.
Jon Bernthal's character was good, until he became "crazy tough guy"
Almost every other character was forgettable and felt like they were just there to move the story from beat to beat.
This film was a mess in almost every sense of the word. I was really looking forward to it as I really do like the original.
The title character is far too different in this one for me to take it seriously as a sequel.

This was a fine way to spend 90 minutes but it was pretty far from "good". It's pretty well acted but the pacing is bad. I can't relate to the main character at all. I don't feel like any kind of human would actually act in the way the main character did in any scenario. It's almost like an alien wrote a part for a human actor to play and then another alien was cast in that part and the whole film was directed by an alien.
Pretty sure they were going for some kind of over-the-top high functioning mental disability in the main character but it tried to be so complicated for no reason.
It wasn't terrible but not great.

Written by the same AI that it vilifies. Girlboss action with a sci-fi twist that we've seen a million times already. The most recycled and cliché story you'll ever watch. Within the first 15 minutes, a mech suit gives you its pronouns.
I honestly can't with this garbage. The best I can say about it is that it was just about watchable and the effects are about average.
At 2 hours, it felt longer than Oppenheimer and Killers Of The Flower Moon, combined. What a slog. There are 200 other girlboss films that are better than this and I wouldn't give any of them more than 4 stars.
A strong, intelligent female lead and a cliché story are just about all it takes to make a big budget movie these days.

Astounding how a large studio with a substantial budget, can't do it better than one guy making YouTube videos. Look up the JCS video on youtube. It's around the same length but goes into this from the criminal psychology angle and absolutely nails it. Netflix tried too hard (as they often do) to ramp up the drama and cinematography and in turn essentially fall flat when it comes to actually giving you what you want from a story like this.
The story of this horrific murder is organically dramatic enough that the erie music is completely unnecessary and takes a lot away from the organic darkness of this case.
Essentially, it's too long for how much it leaves to assumption and too dramatic for how much it takes away from the incident.
Watch the JCS video instead.

This is essentially paint by numbers found footage, but they didn't have all the colours. Bad acting, terrible story, super convenient plot progression and an ending that is so anti-climactic that it's almost an ironic climax. It's like they had half an idea that they wrote on the back of a receipt but they had to return the item that the receipt was for so filmed this from memory.
On a mildly positive note, it was slightly suspenseful at a few very rare points but that's me being very genrous.
I love found footage films for all of their faults and can usually find some charm in them but this is using the genre to cover up it's short comings.
You'd have to pay me to watch this again, and it wouldn't be cheap.

This was one of the best comedies I've seen in quite a long time. It really does feel like it threw away everything that films coming out in 2024 have to do, in terms of keeping everyone happy and just did it's own thing.
This doesn't feel rebellious or pandering at all. It isnt making a political statement, of any kind, against anything "woke" or trying to stay in a particular lane. It just tells its story the way it wants to tell it because they knew that this is the only way to be genuine.
It follows a typical formula of two friend's rise, until the inevitable conflict, before bringing them back together but it doesn't feel tired, it beams of nostalgia but also keeps things fresh.
There isn't anything unenjoyable about this film at all. I really liked it and will probably watch it again.
The only things I would say are that it does feel a little unnecessarily long at just under 2 hours. They could have easily trimmed 20 mins off this and some of the decisions made by some of the characters were clearly written to further the plot and felt a little jarring and convenient but other than that, I would highly reccomend this to anyone who misses the comedies of the 90s.

This wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen. It was perfectly fine. I laughed once or twice but it wasn't bad or unfunny. The main thing that really dragged it down was the inclusion of non-actors in roles that should have been filled by actual actors. It was such a mixture of acting performances that it was jarring to watch. You put an actual actor like James Buckley next to someone who has never acted in their lives and it's like watching a bad audition. Then you have the fact that every American character is played by a British actor/comedian who just cannot do anything close to an American accent. It was all wrong and felt like there was a decent film buried in this mess of bad actors and bad accents. It was really let down by a good chunk of it's performances.
