A perfectly servicable and good natured younger kids' xmas movie, which somehow routinely finds itself in 'worst movie ever' lists for reasons that I can't work out having now seen the thing. It's a bit ramshackle and hokey-dokey, yes, but so was the whole of the 1960s.
This movie contains the line: "Something is wrong with our children. Their only interest is in watching meaningless earth programs", and you have to admit bro is spitting straight facts here for real.
From the decade that gave us hippies and hula-hoops, '65's craptastic Bloody Pit Of Horror is infinitely more worthy of the notoriety which SCCTM has managed to acquire, I recommend that instead for your fix of Bad.

Enjoyable bad movies tend to fall into several categories of badness. There are the Samurai Cop / Miami Connection type which somehow come off as blissfully unaware of how gloriously bad they are. Then you have ones like The Nostril Picker or Chopping Mall, which seem to be partially aware of how bad they are but they just don't care either way... and then you have ones like Killer Klowns, where all the actors just seem overly conscious of the badness they are creating on purpose, which for me equals less fun for the viewer. It's all too forcefully silly, lightweight, and parodic to come off as anything other than a one note in-joke. (See also Frankenhooker and Waxwork).
There is some limited fun to be had with the absurdity of alien clowns on the rampage, but for me Killer Klowns falls way short of being a proper so-bad-it's-good gem.

As someone who is borderline obsessive about movies that are so bad they're good, and also someone who flat out despises superhero movies (even when I was a kid I didn't like them), I hoped this film's reputation alone would guarantee it to be an absolute shoo-in for a smug ridiculing, slash hate watch.
Alas, this is just a regular tweeny superhero movie, and one that is so blatantly aimed at kids that I couldn't even bring myself to mock it even if it deserved it. It just does its thing, in an average way.
In fact the semi-dream sequence scene involving the initial 'cat possession' type stuff is actually quite entrancing. Reminded me of something from the 1984 series adaptation of The Box Of Delights .
Anyone who declares this to be "so bad it's good" doth know not about what they are talking about.
