No spoilers here, first of all.
Overall, I really enjoyed this show and I was quite shocked after watching a few episodes when I've logged onto IMDb to see the amount of hate that the show was getting and also the negative reactions to Jack Whitehall's performance.
I don't think Jack did anything wrong in this show. His performance was absolutely true to the character of Adam. He is supposed to be a little bit creepy and questionable. Whatever show Jack is in the characters are all a little bit the same, but that really fits who Adam is supposed to be.
Overall, I really enjoyed the show. It was a typical television thriller. It wasn't harsh, black or gritty. It's a kind of thing you would expect to see at 9 o'clock on a Sunday night on regular television.
So, overall I was really enjoying it until I got to the final episode. When everything was revealed as to Adam's motivation and also the overall conclusion of the series I thought the writing was very weak. It just all seemed overly simplified and Adam's final actions didn't seem to match his backstory.
It's a shame because this could have been so good. I just feel that they should've had somebody take a look over the script and sort that mess of a finale out.

I did it the wrong way around. I watched - and became a great fan of - Veep before I found The Thick of It.
The Thick of It is a marvel and Ianucci is just a divine creator, but arguably Veep did it better, riding on the coat tails of this.
The Thick of It is a perfect window into what Britain is really like. All of the characters is fully believable, even though you despise each and every one of them. The writing is low superb, the situations ridiculous and the show is equal parts hilarious and depressing.

Let me start by saying I've never watched "The Office". I have seen plenty of other fly-on-the-wall style comedies so understand the format.
But The Paper just falls flat for me.
I watched the first two episodes to give it a fair shot but won't be going any further.
I only remember 3 characters. The new guy, the girl he is obviously going to have a will-they/won't-they relationship with and the utterly atrocious Esmerelda. I agree with pretty much every other reviewer on here that she is absolutely the worst thing about the show.
I found nothing to laugh about. It isn't comedy. It isn't clever comedy. It's the rehashing of an over-used format that brings nothing new to the table.
I'm sure it will find its audience, but it definitely doesn't deserve to be heralded as a new classic.
I guess if you liked the original The Office, there's a 50/50 chance that you'll enjoy this. If you didn't watch The Office, there's no reason to watch this show.
