Happy New Year: One of the most celebrated festive season across the world, where everyone greets to welcome the new changes in their lives. So that much expectation we might have in this musical heist drama, which delivered almost in some sequences not in terms of plot. Directed by Choreographer cum Director Farah Khan, she knows the pulse of the masses by capturing the biggest star of the bollywood, some inspiring ideas from previous films(irrespective of whether it is bollywood or Hollywood) and spicy-masala dish is ready to serve. Coming to performances, Shah Rukh Khan(as Chandramohan Sharma aka Charlie) he looks great in his physique avatar but if compare to earlier Farah film's, the charm seems to have faded down. But in the emotional sequences he over shines everyone. Abhishek Bachchan(as Nandu and Vicky Grover) finally he got the certificate of acting(i hope its not fake) he is super funny and entertains through his gestures. His role should be more lengthier and meatier, but the last sequence in the vault is hilarious. Deepika Padukone(as Mohini) she looks great, almost similar character of Chennai Express but it is no where compare to that role which was exceptional. Boman Irani(as Tammy) he was the show stealer with his perfect parsi accent and hilarious in his sequences. Sonu Sood(as Jag) he was just average, nothing much to deliver except some few introduction sequences. Vivaan Shah(as Rohan) he is completely wasted as an amateur hacker. Jackie Shroff(as Charan Grover) he was fine in his part. Story is kept simple(SRK keeps saying this "Keep it Simple"),nothing new in it. If you have seen heist films like Ocean's Eleven,Tower Heist,Italian Job etc. then there is nothing new in the heist plans and execution. Screenplay is good in bits and pieces where in the first portion they are unintentionally funny scenes. Even if they forces you to laugh, your mouth doesn't even smile for it. Second portion is much better than first with some good sequences to remember. There is a sequence which is totally illogical, why you need a helipad to do dance rehearsal? Were all the rooms in atlantis were booked? or you just want to showcase amateur kung fu hustle types stunts between SRK and a Korean man(the action was good but unintentional). Music is good by Vishal-Shekhar but not as good as OSO. Verdict: **.5 stars On the whole, it is a complete family entertainer but in bits and pieces with some good hilarious moments. Abhishek and Boman are to watch out for, they are hilarious in their sequences. Irrespective of what the reviews are, moviegoers will watch it for SRK as it has been made for his fans. Even it is a multi starrer film. If watched it will remind you of many good entertainers and if skipped will not make you feel about missing out something important. Still missing the SRK of 90's(only the evil side).
Entertainment : First of all this movie should be shown to PETA fella's for disrespecting dog communities. I feel pity for all the dogs across the world. They should protest against the PETA stating "no need for this humiliation we can do it for ourselves". Debutante Director Duo Farhad- Sajid who has gave great inputs in earlier hits like Singham,Golmaal3,Chashme Badoor etc... this was like going in Sajid Khan's way and they succeeded as well. Coming to performances, Akshay Kumar(as Akhil Lokhande)your one line avatar was great but same old stuff...phew!!!! Akki i think your soul might have also fed up with you by doing similar roles. Tamannaah Bhatia(as Sakshi) her name length is more than her character in the film, even glamour quotient couldn't saved her. Krushna Abhishek(as Jugnu) he was funny in the pre-interval portions but as the film progresses, it became more annoying to listen him. Johnny Lever (as Advocate Habibullah) after long time seeing him full fledged role, he is the comedy king, his expressions are natural all the time. Prakash Raj(as Karan) and Sonu Sood(as Arjun) reprising the role of Salman-SRK, with background song of karan-arjun brotherly love song, truly pathetic and unbearable. Mithun Chakraborty(as Tamannaah's Father) he was wasted and most illogical line of his in the film, forcing her daughter to marry the dog and saying "after marriage every guy becomes dog, so why not marry to a dog directly" how can a father say that? . Junior(as Entertainment) he was cute, adorable and well trained. Dialogues and Screenplay by Farhad-Sajid, were you watching any Sajid Khan's act or film when you were scripting this infuriating acts? I hope other directors are listening before signing them for any inputs. If you see Hollywood, they have given so many delightful dogs flicks with genuine acts. Only two songs are leading the charts "Johnny Johnny" and "Veeray De Wedding". Verdict : * star On the whole, entertaining first half(in bits and pieces) but as the film progresses you will curse yourself. In simple words, similar like humshakals. Animal rights activists Maneka Gandhi said "no animals were harmed in this film". After watching this, humans were harmed mentally.
Hate Story 2 : Revenge drama is one of the most common and popular genre in Hindi cinema. But female revenge drama's are very few which are remembered till date, most popular female revenge drama's are ZAKHMI AURAT, KHOON BHARI MAANG and BANDIT QUEEN.
Some of them are B-grade flicks with A-list actress, not required to named them. Director Vishal Pandya tried to live up to that expectation but failed miserably.
Coming to performances, Surveen Chawla(as Sonika) she fails to deliver the hotness quotient which Paoli Dam made a trademark of this franchise. Jay Bhanushali(as Akshay) he is wasted and fails to impress, he was just a mannequin and hearing the directors call. Sushant Singh(as Mandar Matre) he was outstanding and probably the shinning star of this drama, after long time making his presence with a mass villainous role and stealing the show.
Story was sluggish with no twists and turns just simple revenge drama. Screenplay was inspired from some of previous female revenge drama's especially first half was almost similar to KILL BILL but second half was much better than first half where in the first half they were trying to setup the plot. Hotness quotient is the trademark of this franchise, but it was hardly 3 minutes and that to be not intense. Songs are already ruling the charts. Sunny Leone "Pink Lips" made a sudden appearance from nowhere.
On the whole, with less hotness quotient and sluggish script. It dint live up to that expectation where the makers concentrated more on the story rather than eroticism. Sushant Singh was the best thing happen in this flick, if he would have not been there then it would another B or C grade film. I would better prefer Sooraj Barjatya family drama rather than this Revenge Drama.
