This is one of the most under rated movies of all time. The soundtrack is an all time great, too. Horner was utterly inspired and the result leaves you boogeying irresistibly in your seat! Eddie Murphy is not as consistent as he was in Trading Places & Beverly Hills Cop, but still has magic moments. Nolte is perfect, however. I would have thought it would have been the other way around, but no. Nolte shines brighter than Murphy, although just as many people would argue the opposite. Everyone has an opinion. It makes great movies even greater than we all thought they were already! Thank you Walter Hill. I love this movie.
7.3 is a ridiculously low score for this episode. It is criminally under rated. The writing team are working at maximum output right now. Belly laughs throughout like The Simpsons in it's prime. Some people say comparing this to the Simpsons is sacrilege but I disagree. This episode is a fresh, new location away from the restaurant. In true kismet style, watching it is like re-living all those terrible weeks alway we've all had. All the funnier due to the relatability. What does relatability remind you of? "Friends", " Seinfeld" and the like. I would include The Office (UK and US versions) too. It is a true hallmark of exceptional TV Comedy Writing. In my book, Bobs Burgers does it as well as anyone that's ever tried.
This is good and worth watching let's get that straight. What's frustrating is that it's close to being great but for a few changes that would be simple enough to fix. The split between German and English speaking actors has been dealt with very poorly. This is especially strange given every other aspect of the show is well above average. The problem is when the dubbed English is heard for actors speaking German, the voice acting is both poor and incredibly jarring due to lip syncing issues (which were inevitable given the different languages being spoken). It's impossible to ignore, which unfortunately means it is immersion breaking. Subtitles would have been so much simpler and a much better solution. I have no idea why they chose the "solution" they did.
